Mancat Monday

I'm doing my post from Mommy's arms today (it's funny to watch her try to type while I'm here) because Deli and I caught her trying to make a secret order from Baby Patches' store, Supplies Just For Pets, and I'm trying to wear her down with my cuteness so she tells me what she bought us for Christmas!

I'm really pouring on the cute, but so far, she's not talking!

While she was using the Live Chat option to ask Baby Patches' Mom a question, I hijacked the keyboard and typed 'sdf' as a secret message to Baby Patches. Now all you kitties know what that means, but for the humans that read this post, 'sdf' = 'Hi Baby Patches, can you tell me what my Mom bought us for Christmas?' in cat-speak. She didn't respond. I guess that means one of two things; either Baby Patches takes her job as Chief Kit very seriously, or I'm just not being cute enough to sway her!

Since Mommy has already done her Christmas shopping for us, Deli and I figured it was a good time to start thinking about a gift for her. Baby Patches' site is helping out with the Santa Paws Drive. They will be bringing toys and treats to shelter cats and doggies this Christmas! We used our allowance and bought some toys and treats from the page on Supplies Just For Pets to donate in Mommy's name! She's gonna love this gift!

This is really comfy...I think I'll take a snooze.

The Artist's Apprentice

Sweet Pea came over for another visit yesterday and the humans are getting a little discouraged. Delilah is showing no signs of relenting - she hisses and growls the whole time! I was a little more relaxed this time, but did start some growling near the end of the evening. Mommy and The Ball Guy are wondering if maybe bringing Sweet Pea over is too stressful for us. But she did buy a new Feliway diffuser online that hasn't been delivered yet, so she wants to try at least one more time with the sweet smell of synthetic cat pheromones wafting about. We'll see how that works.

I think Deli was right when she said that watching Sweet Pea on film and in pictures is much better than having her here! It seems that she's already developed a few charming habits working and living with The Ball Guy. She's taken on the task of being his assistant when he draws.

The Ball Guy is busy working on the portraits for our contest winners and other things that he has to do for work, and Sweet Pea has begun her job as his cute little helper!

As you can see, she's organizing his reference photos for him.

This is where she sits when he's drawing (when she's not trying to reorganize his paintbrushes and pens) to make sure he's doing a good job.

Apparently she got a little wild with the photo of Ginger Jasper and dragged it under the desk to tumble with! Sorry, GJ! She is a kitten, after all! Mommy says that Ginger Jasper is so handsome that Sweet Pea was just trying to get closer to him. Thankfully, it was just the reference photo that she got her paws on and not the actual drawing!

Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

We're Canadian cats, so we already had our Thanksgiving in October, but I figure it's okay to be thankful along with our friends south of the border

I'm pretty thankful because Mommy has today and tomorrow off. She always reserves two vacation days for the U.S. Thanksgiving, because most of her customers are from there, and that means less work to go back to on Monday. It's always good to have Mommy off work for more than a weekend, because she always relaxes really well. We all know how wonderful it is to have a relaxed Mommy - they're comfier to sleep on when they're not tense.

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and if you're not celebrating Thanksgiving where you are, we wish you a fun Thursday!

Now, if I can just convince Mommy to go out and get a turkey...

Tortie Tuesday

Finally a Tortie Tuesday all to myself! The last two weeks I've shared my blog day with little Sweet Pea and she wasn't even grateful! Instead of thanking me for being so gracious, she came over here and tried to eat my treats and play with my tail.

Mommy said that because of my distaste for modeling for photos, and Sweet Pea's obvious love of the camera, she had far more pictures of her for Tuesday, so I grudgingly obliged her with a few shots. She had a point, after all.

Here's my impression of a pretty Tortie in a bathtub:

Hold on! No one said anything about using the flash!

That's more like it...

Hey!

Okay, one more...but be nice!

Now you're just being abusive!

It's amazing what I have to put up with...

Mancat Monday

It's that time of year in this part of Canada when the temperatures get extra cold!

I've been preparing by growing my winter coat and reserving my spot on the hairy blanket. Even though I am an indoor cat, I need to be prepared for those cold drafts when a window is opened.

Now I just need a warm Delilah to make this perfect.

Wake me when it's Spring...

Sweet Pea Meets The Monkeys

We met Sweet Pea on Friday night and, well, I was not amused at all. I had become fond of this little whippersnapper on film, but when she arrived into my house, all bold and kitteny, it was a very different story. Tortitude - she has it! She reminds me of a young me, but I am three now and I do not appreciate her enthusiasm! I am the head Tortie here and she just walked up to me like she owned the place. I growled and hissed at her, and she just kept coming back. Finally she snuck up on me when I was enjoying a treat so I had to whap her. Don't worry, I kept my claws in and she didn't seem any worse for wear, but I had to get my message across. MY treats - MY home. Do you understand, little one? Maybe if she can accept these facts I might like her more, but until then, she will get whapped everytime she comes over!

I could tell that Samson really was interested in her at first, but when he saw that I was upset, he got all hissy. Is it any wonder why I love that big, sweet Mancat?

Here is a montage of us showing Sweet Pea that she is not welcome here.

I'll give her one thing - she's got a lot of guts in that tiny, furry body of hers! Or maybe it's just kitten naivety.

Apparently the humans thought it went as they expected and are going to try again this week...silly humans.

Finally Friday

Tonight is the night we're going to meet Sweet Pea!

Mommy thanks you all for your advice, and she's definitely not getting her hopes up for 'love at first sight' but we're hoping it goes fairly smoothly.

To keep everyone up to date, Sweet Pea is living with The Ball Guy and will continue to do so, but since he often spends time here, they're hoping that we'll all get along. Mommy thinks it'll be a good learning experience for us, too. She hopes that when she moves to a bigger place, she can get more cats (WHAT??!!).

We'll let you all know how it goes and hopefully we'll have some pictures to post.

Have a great Friday!

To Flash or not to Flash

Besides the obvious differences in appearance, Delilah and I are very different in many other ways. I think the only similarity we have is that we are both cats...although sometimes I wonder about Deli.

One thing that Mommy finds really odd about me, is the way I react to the camera. I am always posing and ready to be immortilized, while Deli is rarely willing. I also do not mind the flash on the camera. As illustrated below, my eyes remain wide open with or without the flash

Mommy says I'm going to burn my corneas! That actually sounds rather uncomfortable...

Deli, on the other hand, often tries to avoid the camera and she gets very mad when the flashy thing goes off

Delilah is never very cooperative when it comes to pictures, but yet she complains that she doesn't have enough blogging time. I'll never understand girlcats!

Oh well...how about more pictures of me?

Tomorrow is the first day that Deli and I will meet Sweet Pea (yes, it's her official name, finally!) and Mommy wants to ask the mommies and daddies of the CB for some advice on introducing her to us. She's not sure how we'll react so she's a little worried.

Tortie Tuesday

This is the second Tortie Tuesday that I'm sharing with The Ball Guy's new kitten 'Sweet Pea' (her name is still not official but he's getting close!).

She is still a bit too young to type legibly, so to save her the embarrassment of spelling errors and kitten talk, I am helping her out.

She had her vet appointment last night and she had her shots and deworming pills, so she's scheduled to meet Samson and I for the first time on Friday. According to the vet, she's in perfect health and she's a full 2 pounds! I hope I don't squish her with my dense, muscular 12 pounds!

I'm quite impressed with her moves, although she is, naturally, displaying a certain kitten-like ineptitude. I especially like her skilled use of the 'I meant to do that' face when she falls on her back and can't quite get up.

I have already developed a certain fondness for the little tyke, however, Torties are not very good at sharing and I'm getting a little tired of it. I'm petitioning to add another Tortie day to the blogging week. Perhaps a Tortie Tursday? I don't care how it sounds, I just want it to happen! I'm using my best stern look so that Mommy does something about this travesty. I've been extremely accommodating and, without a foreseeable end to this cute kitten Tortie madness, I must take matters into my own paws.

I am very accustomed to sharing The Ball Guy's affections with other Torties; I've even caught him browsing the CB looking at Isabella, Tasha, Sweet Praline and Callie (to name a few), and I don't have a problem sharing him with Sweet Pea...my problem is sharing my Tortie Tuesday with her. It's bad enough that I have to split my blog with Samson, but for the love of Cod, don't mess with my Tuesdays! Join me in protesting this absurd state of affairs!

Mancat Monday

I had a bit of an incident on Saturday that starts off a little embarrassing and humiliating, but in the end it worked out in my favor.

Mommy received a sample package of Gain laundry detergent in the mail on Friday and, when she got in the house, she put the mail and the sample in a little box that I've been trying to fit into recently.

Mommy absolutely loves the smell of that laundry detergent. She thinks it should be a perfume or something (yeah, she's a little weird). While she was asleep, I decided it would be a great time to squish myself into the small box that had the sample in it. I guess my claws must have burst open the packet and I didn't realize until I got out that my entire underbelly and paws were covered in detergent. When she woke up, she was overcome with the smell of Gain and somehow thought it must be a dream, until I jumped up onto her bed and left green, soapy paw prints all over her quilt.

Here comes the embarrassing part - when she realized I was not going to get into the bath and let her use the shower nozzle to clean off my fur, she got in with me so I wouldn't be scared! How many Mancats do you know who are forced to take a bath with their Moms? It was awful because she had to rinse a long time to get the concentrated detergent out between my toes and from all the long floof on my belly. And when the water finally stopped, she rubbed me with determined vigor with a big pink towel for what seemed like hours!

The good thing about this rather disconcerting episiode is that after the bath, my whites are even whiter and my colours did not fade! Even better than that, Mommy is snuggling me much more than ever because of my fresh, clean scent!

We're both glad that no one else was around to take pictures!

Finally Friday

It's Friday and we wanted to show you what our humans generally do on Friday...drink beer. Actually Mommy has been more of a wine person lately, but The Ball Guy usually likes his beer (and I like to drink with him). I've said this before, but it should be said again; I always drink responsibly and they never let me have more than a couple of licks.

I also wanted to welcome a new addition to the Kool Kittie Krew with a 'cheers' and a couple of slurps of beer. Cricket, the new tortie/calico, also likes beer!

She is featured (along with The Ball Guy's new little fuzzball) over on Wendy's LOL Spot.

Samson wanted to point out another long-time Friday tradition of our humans. This is how he warms up their pizza.

Maybe it's just me, but it looks like Samson is enjoying a bit too much of their pizza! He covers the whole box!

Now I'll show you what the humans do when they've had too much beer, wine and pizza...

Have a great weekend!

The Name Game

The Ball Guy still hasn't named his little bundle of fur! He says that he's waiting until the perfect name comes to him.

We thank you for all your wonderful suggestions and Mommy thinks there were plenty of perfect name ideas for the little sweetie, but I guess we should just let The Ball Guy come up with it when he does. The only name that has come close so far is Sweet Pea, which is kinda cute. She sure looks sweet! I can't wait to meet her.

She seems to be making herself at home at The Ball Guy's house. She's fetching soccer balls and he says she's bossing him around. I warned him about those Torties. Deli bosses me around all the time!

She has her appointment next Monday for her shots so we should be meeting her by the end of next week. Mommy is a little bit worried about how we'll react, but she thinks that if The Ball Guy brings her over frequently, we'll eventually get used to her. I'm excited but I'm also a little bit apprehensive about the whole thing. I can barely handle one Tortie, let alone two!

Tortie Tuesday

Samson is going about it all wrong. There is no way we can cute compete with that sweet little fluffball of The Ball Guy's, so the best thing to do is let the humans get their fill. It's like eating too much candy (which Mom thinks is a good name for her, by the way), it's really sweet at first but eventually you get sick to your stomach. I have decided to feature the still unnamed little girl on my Tortie Tuesday. If you can't beat 'em, give everyone way too much of 'em so they come running back to Samson and I after they crash from too much sugar.

Look at that little face!

I actually think I may like this little girl. She is a tortie, after all and she kinda looks like me as a kitten. I've examined her moves on the film that Mommy brought home and, while she is definitely still a little wobbly, she has the potential to become a very capable tortie girl. Of course The Ball Guy has already started training with a soccer ball!

And if you can stand this sugary sweetness, watch this ridiculous video of her sleeping, having a dream and then waking and stretching at the end. It's so sweet, it's hurts. I can see she's really working The Ball Guy with the little helpless and cute act. She's doing a great job!

Mancat Monday

Mommy wasn't around most of the weekend, and when she did come home, she smelled like wine and cute little girl-kitten!

I've got to step up the cute act because I'm no longer the baby!

How's this?

I guess I'll just have to wait until the kitten gets as big as me...I'll be here awhile.

Introducing...

Here's the new little one!

The Ball Guy is a proud new daddy.

She is still without a name, so any suggestions are welcome. Mommy's worried because The Ball Guy had some pretty crazy suggestions and she thinks torties should have pretty girl names, but it's his kitten, so we'll have to get used to whatever he chooses!

Whatever her name is, I can't wait until she gets all her shots and tests so she can come over and meet us!
