Cat-O-Lympics

I was totally shocked that Samson and Mommy 'bowed out' of The Cat-O-Lympics this year because we don't have access to all of our pictures and videos. I have been training for years for this and I definitely do not want to let down our gracious host, Fin! I am officially withdrawing Samson and Mommy's withdrawal AND, not only will I be competing in an event, we are going to be hosting an event, too!

First, to our event. Because the games are open to all species, I thought it would be great fun to add the event Fetching. Since fetching is more often a dog event, this will give our doggy friends more of an incentive to participate. Of course if you're a cat who fetches, you're welcome to compete also. In case you've never fetched and want to try, here's a video of me actually doing it. Doggies, pay attention - you may learn something!

To participate in our event, you will need to follow these directions:

1. Post a picture or video on your blog and let me know you did it by posting a comment here or on our blog.

2. Provide your blog address so I know where to go to judge your fetching.

3. Sit back and wait for the results!

Now, I'll show you my entry for the High Jump event hosted by Cats in Maryland.

They did not mention in their rules if videos are allowed as an entry, so I'm not even sure yet if this is a legal entry, but here I am peforming my high jump:

My jump would have been a lot cleaner if the shelf hadn't been full of so much junk! If you had the sound on, you may have noticed that I made a little sound like a karate or tennis player before I jumped. This 'grunt' is how I release my natural adrenaline so that I've got a jolt of extra power.

Wish me luck in my competition!

Let the games begin!

  4. You are a very good high jumper. You don't let anything get in your way do you.
Eric used to catch and fetch when he was younger but we don't know if we have any photos or videos. Mum will be looking through all our old stuff today or tomorrow.

  8. Excellent example of the fetch event, we don't think we have anything that would work for that but we'll take a look!

And we do like your entry for the high jump, sure to be a winner, we think! Most of our jumps that have been caught for posterity are down rather than up so we probably won't be able to enter that one either. :(

Yay, we're glad you were able to play!

    Purrs and hugs,
    The Kitty Krew

  10. Yay Delilah! So glad you are competing! I'm thinking it would be nice if there were a decat-alon event since my momma Ellie is great at fetching little soccer balls...and she does so many other events too! Here is a link to my momma fetching:

  15. You are a pawsome high jumper Deli but I am not quite so good at that. I do fetch though! I don't know if Mommy has any photos or videos of me fetching but I'll see what I can find. Hope you have a Happy Tortie Tuesday!

  16. Oh my gosh, fetching is the PERFECT event for our Virgil - he LOVES to fetch - I will have to find some good pics of that (I really need to get the video camera charged up soon!). I know I have some of him bringing the ball back, so hopefully those will work!

And it stinks that your pic and videos are stuck on another computer - I STILL can't get to my Virgil baby pictures and it makes me crazy! At least hopefully yours will be fixed soon (mine, on the otherhand, it is always "we'll get to it" - for a year+ at this point!)

  21. Your jumping style is perfect. Getting up high places and creating chaos at the same time. Few cats can improve on that.

  22. OMG, Dalilah, you're amazing, I cannot jump that high! If I was a judge I would give a perfect 10.
