Mancat Monday


The weather is beautiful and Deli and I are watching birdies on our big screen TV.  Life seems pretty fantastic but I know that Delilah is just trying to keep my mind off my troubles.
It's been a little over 3 weeks since we started the food trials for my allergies, but my itchies have come back. 

 

Mommy knows that it sometimes takes a lot longer than 3 weeks to determine if I have a food allergy and we won't stop now because I have lost a half a pound, which she says is good, but I have to go back to the vet this week for a biopsy of my scabs.  I have to be off the steroids for longer than 4 weeks to have a good sample, so it'll be after Thursday.  

Mommy is treating my scabs with antibiotic cream in the meantime, and I'm trying to keep focused on the birdies so I  don't think about how itchy I am.

I'm a pretty tough Mancat, but I could use a few purrs.  Itchies are no fun!

    Oh poor Samson, the itchies must be so annoying. We will be crossing all our pawsies and purraying that they find out what nasty thing is causing them. Hope the birdies help you forget the itchies for a while :)xx

    I sure hope you have some luck with the food, those itchy times are awful. The grain free did the trick for Sister Zoe so we're hoping you get yours figured out too!

    Oh Honey, I'm purring hard for you. I have itchies too but though mine made me pull out my furs, the steroid shot once every 6 weeks took care of the allergies for the 6 weeks. Then, mommy had to take me back for more. I'm sorry, sweet one. xoxoxoxox

    Oh no Samson, we are so sorry those darn itchies have come back. We have heard that it is really hard to see which food an animal is allergic too. Sometimes you have to go to something really different like some food the flavor of Duck. That would be fun to eat duck, right Samson. That makes our Mom sad that you are itching again. We sure hope you can figure something out. Grain free is supposed to work too.

    Thanks for writing to us Samson. You sure have a super duper Mom to do all that work but she really doesn't want you on that medicine and we don't blame her. Those darn steroids are horrible for your body. It sure doesn't sound like a food allergy to us.Wish we had an answer for you. It can get all so complicated. Like do you have ducts coming into your apartment that could be bringing something in? But that would be nuts. Anyway, we will put on our thinking caps and see what we can think of. Sending tons of purrs for less scratching.

    Samson, we're sorry your itchies are back!! Mom says it can take 4-6 weeks to know if the food helps. But you'd think after 3 weeks the itchies wouldn't come back.

    As you know, Ernie has allergies which we thought were food related, but we're not sure...it may be environmental too. But fortunately, his aren't real severe.

    We hope the vet can figure it out and get you some relief.

    Oh Samson! Poor itchy boy! Yes, we're purring for you. I think there surely must be something else they can do for you?

    It almost seems like a Catch-22 because you haven't been on the food long enough to determine anything -- and then you have to go off it for even longer to be tested! Sheesh!

    Maybe you need to get a different opinion from another vet or two!
