Wordy (sorta) Wednesday

Hello all! Daisy here. It's been SOOOO long since I've seen you and we're working on an update (in case you don't know all the latest news), but in the meantime here I am flushing away all the bad mojo from the past couple of years!
...
Love you all! Daisy xoxo

Bella

We have not updated our blog in quite awhile, but wanted to let everyone know that our little Bella lost her battle against kidney and heart disease on February 10th.

Thank you, Anne, for this beautiful graphic!

We are all heartbroken and miss her very much.  She was one of a kind!

Sweet Pea's Birthday

The Monkeys' Mommy has been going on all morning about how time flies and that she doesn't know where the time has gone - all because I reminded her it was my 5th birthday!  I don't have to tell you, friends, humans are weird.

Gabriel and Poteet are both here to help me celebrate.

My housemates are great, but I haven't seen Samson in a long time.  It's not like I miss him or anything - I just like bothering him.  Daddy says that we can't go visit as easily as we did before because The Monkeys live on the 8th floor of a highrise and I get freaked out in elevators.  My one birthday wish this year is that I see Samson's silly face again soon.

Thank you for dropping by!  We miss you all!

Bella and Daisy's Birthday

Oh, hello!  Just getting cleaned up for my birthday party today.

Daisy is 1 and I'm 15!

This is a photo of when we met for the first time.

I was bigger than her then and I watched over her like she was my own kitten.

Even though she's much bigger than me now, I still treat her like my kitten.  I love her very much and I'm so happy to share my birthday with her!

Thank you for coming by to see us on our birthday!

Bella's Gotcha Day

Wow, time flies!  I can't believe I've been in this place for four whole years!

I've been feeling a little under the weather lately.  I have kidney disease and, as many of you know first paw, it's no fun.  Mommy has been doing all she can to keep me healthy and feeling good though, so I'm still up for a party.

Since I got sick Samson has been a little rough with me.  It's a mystery to us because he is normally a very sweet cat and had never been violent with me before.  This means that I need to stay in my apartment (Mommy's bedroom) when she is not home.  Needless to say, he is not invited to my party!  Delilah and I have always been at odds so she is not allowed to come either, but I'm definitely inviting my boyfriend Iggy and my new bestie, Daisy!

Daisy and I will be celebrating our birthday on June 23rd.  I'll be 15 and she'll be 1.  It's an odd friendship but I love her so much.  We have so much fun together and I'm honored to share a birthday with my little Daisy (even though she's way bigger than me now!)

Thanks for coming by and celebrating with us! I love you all!

Delilah, Poteet and Mommy's Birthday

Today is a big day for us!

Mommy and I have always loved sharing our birthday.  I'm 8 and  Mommy is only 4 years older than me at 48.

This year we're adding someone new to our special day.  The vet said Poteet was about 7 months when she went to live with Sweet Pea and Gabriel in December, and since she is a lot like me in personality and looks, we decided she MUST be born on May 17th too!  She is one year old today!

All three of us are stubborn strong-minded, lazy relaxed and ferocious-tempered passionate, but we also know how to party!  Catnip all around!  Thank you for stopping by to help us celebrate.

We love you!

Iggy's Birthday

It's my 6th birthday today!

This is my happy face.
Mommy doesn't actually know my real birth date or even how old I am so she gave me the same birthday as Iggy Pop, the guy I'm named after.  It's all fine with me as long as there are treats!

I had dental surgery in February because I had gingivitis stomatitis and I had 15 teeth removed.  I feel fantastic now and I'm ready to party.  Mommy says my breath is great now, so if any of you kitties or humans want a smooch, I'm ready for that too!

Now how about letting the birthday boy get in on some of that sunbeam, Samson?

Gabriel's Birthday

It's been a long time since we've blogged and it takes a special occasion to bring us out of hiding...it's my 3rd birthday!

This year I received my gift early.  I finally have a girlfriend who loves me back!  Sweet Pea only ever tolerates me with a tiny bit of love in return, but Poteet thinks I'm the best boyfriend ever!  We spend all of our spare time together.

Sweet Pea is okay with it.  I still snuggle her once and awhile, but only when she lets me.

Bella has some kidney problems so she could use some purrs, but the rest of The Monkeys are doing great!  There are some birthdays coming up, so you should hear from the others soon.

Thank you for visiting.  I love you all!

What is a Poteet?

Sweet Pea here!

Some of you may have answered that Poteet is a town in Texas and you would be correct, but the real answer is, Poteet is an evil creature that has been sent to my house to make me crazy!

I think I'll just stay up here.

Poteet was the name that Daddy originally wanted to call me, but the Monkeys' Mommy convinced him to call me Sweet Pea.   Not only did this new little Tortie take my name, she took my catnip, my green spring and rolled around on MY Daddy's socks!

I have been up on this shelf trying to avoid the little tyke but every time I look down, she's still there!

Gabriel tried growling at her from a distance...

...but she's still there.

Oh great Tortie Goddess in the Sky, please make this new Tortie go away so I can come down off this shelf!

Tortie Domination Day

Delilah here!

As the head Tortie Monkey, I am pleased to announce that as of today the Tortie population of Monkeys will become even stronger!  We will be 50% Tortie!

Mommy was browsing her Facebook feed and saw a post from one of her friends that does rescue and saw a post about some cats that were on death row at a pound outside of Montreal.  This is an especially awful pound because they still use gas to kill cats and dogs that aren't claimed after a certain amount of time.  Of course there is a movement to stop them from using this inhumane method, but I will save Mommy's rant for another post.  ANYWAY, she saw this little beauty in the photos:

She is only 6 months old and was picked up as a stray.  Mommy kept watching the post and hoping for the good news that someone would save her, but time was running out.   She was scheduled to be killed today!  Mommy called Sweet Pea and Gabriel's Daddy and showed him the photo and he said 'call and get her'!  She is being transported over to Sweet Pea and Gabriel's house today!

Poor Sweet Pea will have to learn how to adjust to living with a new Tortie.  I can only hope that my intense Tortie training has paid off and she will be fine with the new little one.

In other Tortie news, Mommy visited her Mom recently and got a chance to hang out with my Auntie Mattie
She was sick for a little while and had us all worried, but she is all better and doing very well!

We can't forget our wise old Tortie, Bella.  She had to be shaved again but I'm pleased to announce that she is as grumpy as ever and doing very well.

Happy Tortie Domination Day!  I'm going to celebrate by hanging out with my beautiful Tortie friend who lives in the wall.

Delilah's Gotcha Day

Living in a kooky household for 7 years can make a cat a little kooky herself

I was the first one here so I've been here for the arrival of all the other Monkeys and therefore that makes me the Boss Monkey.

It's a tough job but I'm up for the challenge.  Thankfully I have my Delilah clone to help out with the duties and keep me sane.

Thanks for visiting on my 7th Gotcha Day!

Daisy Duke

The humans finally agreed on a name for me (thanks to Ginger Jasper's Mum for the suggestion) so I thought I'd introduce myself to you.  I'm the newest Monkey - Daisy Duke

Mommy already told you how I became a Monkey and how she tried to find my owners, but I knew I had her at 'meow'.  She says I'm the boldest kitten she's ever met.   I don't take any paw from any of the big cats and I am not scared of anything!  Well, except maybe the vacuum...just a little.  What is that thing???!!

The big cats tell me Mommy is a lazy blogger so I look forward to meeting you all eventually!  Maybe I can whip her into shape :-)

Thoughts on Thursday

It seems the only time we blog these days is for events, and today is no exception.

Late last year Mommy reconnected with one of her good friends from high school on Facebook.  It had been 30 years since Mommy had seen Richard but she quickly realized why she had been friends with him in the first place - he loves cats!  More specifically, he loved his cat - Galine.

Galine had Cerebellar  Hypoplasia which made her walk a little funny but it just made Richard love her even more.  About a month ago, Richard adopted a kitten that had been rescued from a feral colony.  He originally wanted the new little one to be a friend for Galine, but he was unaware that Galine was ailing with kidney cancer.  Sadly, she passed away on July 23rd.

Richard was inconsolable, but he realized that his new kitten was lonely so he set out to adopt a new kitten to bond with the little one.

What he found was a pair of kittens that had been abandoned on the farm of a woman who was receiving chemotherapy and was rarely there.  He adopted them both and saved them from a life outside.

Now his home is full of love with these three young cats!  Galine was loved so much and we know she'd be happy that her Daddy opened his home to these three beautiful cats.

Thank you, Richard, for saving these babies.  We send purrs and head bumps.

One More Monkey?

Most of you who know us well know that there are 6 Monkeys.  Samson, Bella, Iggy and I live with Mommy and Sweet Pea and Gabriel live with their Daddy just down the street.  We live in a one bedroom apartment in a high-rise building and Mommy has said in the past that any amount past 4 Monkeys would be the straw that broke the camel's back.

We'd like you to meet the straw!

Last Monday in the early morning, Mommy had a hard time sleeping.  She was restless and couldn't sleep so she moved out to the couch to watch some TV and eventually ended up falling back to sleep.  At around 5:30 AM she heard little kitten cries, but because she was still sleeping, they were incorporated into her dream.  When she woke up and still heard the kitten, she realized it wasn't a dream and went to the door and saw this little one all alone in the hallway of the apartment building!  She had been crying at OUR door.  Mommy was still groggy but she was sure little one escaped from an apartment on our floor so she walked up and down to see if anyone had their door open.  Mommy stayed home from work, put up signs and spoke to the building manager.  No one came forward to claim this little kitten.  We think she was abandoned.

It is possible that she will stay with Sweet Pea and Gabriel, but I know Mommy - she is already in love with this crazy kitten and I don't think she'll let her go.  She is already making plans to move to a larger apartment in the spring!

She doesn't have a name yet but we are working on it and should have one soon.  If you have a suggestion, we'd love to hear it.

I haven't seen any camels around here but if you see one, please give him your purrs.  His back is broken!

Samson's 7th Birthday!

It's my birthday today!

What do I plan to do today, you ask?  I'm 7 now so I have more of an excuse to be a lazy Mancat.

Ahhhhh, this is the life!

Thank you for dropping by.
