Secret Paws

We participated in Secret Paws for the first time this year, and we're so happy we did! We exchanged with the gorgeous kitties, Calle, Halle, Sukki, Mommy Cat and Daddy Cat over at Jacqueline's.

They sent us a package with so many things, I can't decide where to start!

Thankfully I had Samson to help sort through all the awesome toys.

I immediately started bunny-kicking the Kong Kickeroo.

Samson loves the sardines...

...and the Cat Quest.

Bella looked on from a distance, but we soon noticed that she had claimed a sardine for herself. With that scary look on her face, none of us would dare to dispute that!

She also took a strong liking to the Kickeroo.

Sweet Pea will be coming over tomorrow to help us play with all these toys!

Thank you, Calle, Halle, Sukki, Mommy Cat, Daddy Cat and of course, Jacqueline! We love our toys and treats. You guys are awesome new friends!

Thank you to Sweet Praline and Mom Paula for organizing this year's Secret Paws!

Since today is New Year's Eve, we would also like to wish all of you a wonderful and safe night! See you next year!

Thankful Thursday

We've had quite a flurry of activity and entertaining over the last few days and we're all very thankful that it's over!

We had family over for Christmas and then Mommy had a party with friends and lots of liquid nip on Monday. You can see the dirty glasses and bottles in the background if you enlarge the photo. Mommy had so much liquid nip that she passed out before cleaning!

Delilah and Bella are the social butterflies in our family. They were both out full force being cute and flitting around for rubs and praise.

Delilah is exhausted...

And Bella was rubbed so much that her fur got all messed up!

Sweet Pea and I aren't as sociable as the other two, so we stayed away from everyone for most of the evening. It's much quieter under here!

I hope you all had a great holiday!

Tortie Tuesday

Sweet Pea here!

I spent Christmas day with the rest of the Monkeys and their Mommy. Daddy was there, of course, and since I was Daddy's Christmas gift last year and Daddy and The Monkeys' Mom agreed that I'm the type of gift that keeps on giving, I hid under the Christmas tree like a present.

I got a little worried that Daddy wouldn't find me under there, so I wrapped myself in a bag with Daddy's name on it.

This is going to be so much fun!

Surprise, Daddy! You get ME!! Again!

Oh, and I got this cool little squirrel! What a perfect Christmas!

Mancat Monday

We all had an amazing Christmas with our Grandma, Aunt, cousins and of course Mommy and The Ball Guy!

Bella had such a great time meeting Grandma for the first time and having her first Christmas with us, that I thought it might mean she was in the mood to share a little birdie watching with me.

Unfortunately she didn't stop glaring at me.

Hey Bella, you're missing a great birdie show!

Ah well, it was her loss.

Thankful Thursday

I may not look it, but I'm very excited to enjoy my very first Christmas as a Monkey!

Mommy bought me my very own Christmas stocking for Santa to fill up and my Grandma is going to be coming to visit. I can't wait to meet her! The other Monkeys tell me she is very sweet and she's going to bring turkey!

Sweet Pea will be here too, and even though she is a bit too immature for my taste, I'm going to try to get along with her. I think Christmas is a time for peace and love and this will be the first time she meets Grandma too.

She seems to be making an effort to get into the spirit of Christmas by lighting her lasers up with the Christmas tree! I guess she's not that bad!

Samson and Delilah are both doing well and are resting up for Santa and Grandma's visits. They're excited too...trust me.

From all of us, we hope you have a fabulous Christmas filled with lots of love. We love you all and are very grateful for your friendship. This is going to be the best Christmas ever!

Mancat Monday

I have been feeling a lot better since I started back on the medication for my allergies. Mommy says I've been sleeping a LOT and I'm less agitated.

Mommy is very grateful for everyone's advice about food and other possible causes. She has armed herself with samples of food and is going to turn our apartment into a fragrance-free allergy proof place for me. We're pretty sure that the allergy is likely an inhalant and not a food and has something to do with our new apartment because my itchies started right after we moved here, but just in case it's not, she is going to try changing my diet too. If all that fails, she is going to bring me to a specialist and have allergy tests done. Our vet says that skin tests on cats are mostly inconclusive and very expensive, but she can't stand to see me uncomfortable and she doesn't like the idea of putting me on medication for a long time.

I told Mommy she needs to apologize to Sweet Pea for accusing her of scratching up my face, because now she knows that I did it to myself when I was itchy.

Mommy will apologize and she said she got Sweet Pea a really special present - a little catnip-filled squirrel! Sweet Pea is obsessed with squirrels and perches on her balcony all day to watch them. I think she'll forgive Mommy.

While I'm not feeling romantic yet, I know I will be soon, so to get you in a romantic holiday mood, here is a smoochy holiday video of Deli and I from last year. Hopefully I'll be feeling up to a little bit of Delilah loving soon!

Finally Friday

I had my vet trip yesterday and my doctor tested my scabs and has ruled out an infection or skin disease. He has confirmed that it is most likely an allergy.

I have started scratching again and I'm very uncomfortable, so they decided that since the Prednisone helped so much last time, they would give me another round of medication so that I can have some relief, and then Mommy will do some experimenting with different foods to check to see if my symptoms come back. If the food trials are unsuccessful, I will have to go back to the vet and get skin tests for inhalants. Mommy is also going to add some Evening Primrose oil to my diet to help my skin (Thanks for the suggestion, Milo and Alfie's Mum!). If any of you have any suggestions for food, Mommy would love to hear them. She wants to keep me on a grain-free diet with some raw food, if possible, but she will try anything if it will keep me comfortable and symptom free.

In the meantime, I'm just happy I will have relief as soon as my medication kicks in. A good long snooze is in order!

Tortie Tuesday

Christmas is only a week and a half away??!!

I guess I had better start being good...

Although I'm sure Santa has a 'Tortitude clause'...I can probably relax.

Mancat Monday

Christmas is around the corner and I'm looking forward to all the vacation time coming up for Mommy. This means lots of snuggle time and maybe even turkey!

While I'm looking forward to the holidays, it turns out that I will have to go back to the vet this Thursday for some tests. Mommy found a lot of scabs near my ears and the base of my tail. While I'm not scratching like I did the last time, I am scratching a little bit so she wants to get the cells tested so we can figure out if it's an allergy, an immune problem, a fungus or a stress-related illness.

I told Mommy that I really didn't want to be any trouble (Of course, Santa is listening so I have to be good) but she said that I'm never trouble and she just wants me to feel good again.

Santa? Did you hear that?

Finally Friday

We had a big snowstorm a few days ago and driving and parking has been a big problem for Mommy. I know she's looking forward to spending time with us this weekend.

I'm looking forward to having Mommy around because Samson and Delilah have been misbehaving while she's at work.

First, Deli has invaded my spot in the tub.

Even my best scary look didn't phase her.

Samson isn't as bold as Deli, but it doesn't stop him from giving me inappropriate looks from the bed. Does he really think I'm going to join him up there?

Who knows what those two are thinking. Maybe I should ask Santa if I can be an only cat!

Tortie Tuesday

Ever since the first night that I arrived at Mommy's house to live we've had a tradition where as soon as she lies down in bed, I jump up on the pillow beside her and give her kisses.

It lasts about 5 to 10 minutes and I usually drool on her. As all of you kitties know, cat drool is a wonderful gift to give a human. It is filled with healing properties and lots of love. Over the years, the tradition has continued and Mommy is mostly appreciative. She says I get a funny look in my eye and I'm very determined.

Mommy is just getting over a cold and is definitely in need of some healing cat drool tonic, so last night I was more determined than ever to give her a dose. She was lying on her side so I walked up to her on her shoulder and leaned over her face. She turned her head to tell me how pretty I am and I dropped my drool right in her mouth! She jumped up and ran to the bathroom and immediately started brushing her teeth. How rude! I guess she doesn't really want to get better. Humans are just as difficult to give medicine to as they're always complaining cats are!

Mancat Monday

I might be going back to the vet again soon and since it's almost Christmas and I have to be good, I thought I'd show Santa how cooperative I am by practicing to get into the carrier.

Mommy hasn't seen me scratching since I took the medicine for my itchies a couple of months ago, but she did see another sore above my eye.

That photo was taken moments after she left the room with Sweet Pea and I together on the bed, so she doesn't know if I scratched myself or if Sweet Pea's Paw of Doom finally connected with my melon.

As you can plainly see, my forehead was still intact before Mommy left the room.

She is keeping an eye on me because she knows how difficult it is to test for allergies and she knows I hate to travel, even to the vet's with all the doting vet assistants!

I just hope Sweet Pea cleans up her act before Santa gets here!

In the meantime, I'm going to share the bed with Delilah only. At least I know she won't whap me!
