Mancat Monday

It's been a very busy weekend here and the temperature is dropping overnight (-21 Celsius).

Mommy has to go to work even though I know she's as tired as I am.

I'm doing my part by not moving off the bed so she doesn't have to make it. I'm also adding some valuable furs and crud to her dark sheets.

We all have to lend a paw when we can.

Bundle up, Mommy!

Friends Friday

Today on Friends Friday, we wanted to introduce you to a friend of ours in Ohio - Max The Manx!

Max doesn't have a blog but we think it's because he must be too busy looking handsome!

Max is a 16-year old Manx and though he's recently retired from hunting due to a little bit of arthritis, he still enjoys patrolling his neighborhood in his dapper hunting jacket. His humans put a little bit of nip in the pockets in case he wants a little 'pick-me-up' during his patrol. He isn't afraid to admit that he's a nipaholic, but really, who among us isn't?

Max is still single, but he wants the ladycats in his area to know that he might finally be ready to settle down. He enjoys long, moonlit walks, turkey and dead mousie arranging.

He sounds like a catch!

Thankful Thursday

You may or may not know that I had to go to a groomer recently because of knots on my chest and tummy.

As much as I love and trust Mommy, I was a little worried that I would lose all my fur. The day before she adopted me, I had all of my floof stolen by the people at the shelter! Mommy saw how self-conscious it made me, so she promised me she would not let the groomer steal all my fur.

I believed her, of course, but I was very nervous anyway!

It turns out that they had to shave my stomach and bee-hind, but you can't even tell by looking at me! I am very happy and comfortable without all those nasty knots.

I'm so thankful that I have a Mommy that keeps her promises!

Tortie Tuesday

In my last Tortie Tuesday post, I mentioned that I suspected that Bella might have magical powers . Now I know that may sound far-fetched, but I'm not taking any chances. I've decided that there is power in numbers, so I've recruited my protegee Sweet Pea so that we can develop some powers of our own.

Everycat knows that cat cubes are secret places where we can contact other cats telepathically, and since Sweet Pea lives with her Daddy and we have a lot of training to do, I begged Mommy to get both Sweet Pea and I new cat cubes. My old one was dropping a lot of calls.

I immediately got in my cube to try to contact Sweet Pea.

Delilah (telepathically): Sweet Pea, can you hear me now?

Sweet Pea (out loud): Hey, I think I hear voices in this thing. Deli? Is that you?

Delilah (telepathically): Yes, it's me. Now get in your cube and use your mind to speak. We can't let the humans know what we're up to!

Sweet Pea (out loud): Okay!! But it doesn't really matter because my Daddy is sleeping. He's an artist so his schedule is wonky.

Sweet Pea (out loud) Hey!! There's ribbons in this thing!! Yay!!

Delilah (telepathically): Please try to concentrate, Sweet Pea!

As you all can tell, I have my work cut out for me! I'll keep you all up to date with my progress.

Mancat Monday

I've said it before, but it warrants repeating - I love the Casbah Kittens!

Mommy has a strange obsession with the crescent moon so she asked Rita to make us a custom crescent moon toy.

It smells so wonderful and is perfectly bunny-kickable!

Rita even threw in a little star. I'm sure it was for me because I'm Mommy's star!

To be honest, I've never really understood what Mommy loves about the crescent moon...until now! She must love bunny-kicking too!

Thank you, Rita, Jane, Alice, Gabriel & Max!

P.S. The very talented Judi at Sammy and Andy's place hatted me today! I am very grateful because it's been so cold! You can see me looking dapper in my new hat HERE!

Thankful Thursday

I wanted to post today to thank you all for joining us for our blogaversary/commentathon yesterday. Thanks to you all, we were able to raise $38.00 for Chrystal's Cathouse!

After all the excitement of yesterday, today it's business as usual here at The Monkeys. I can go back to pondering things like why does sink water taste so much better than any other water?

I'll get back to you on that.

Blogaversary and Commentathon

Samson and I started blogging on January 19th of 2009, so today is our second blogaversary!

Since then, we've added a couple more kitties to our household and made a whole lot of awesome friends in the Cat Blogosphere!

First came Sweet Pea...

...and then our beautiful Bella!

We are so happy to have been involved in this amazing community for two years and we want to thank each and every one of you for visiting, commenting and being our friends. Today we hope that even the passersby who normally just visit will leave a comment because we're donating 50 cents for every comment to Chrystal of Daily Dose of Dogs to help her build her second cathouse! This is a very good cause, so please help us help them! The commentathon is on until tonight at midnight EST and while you're welcome to comment as many times as you like, we'll be counting only one comment per blog.

Thank you so much for visiting us!

Mancat Monday

When Mommy entertains people, I'm always on the lookout so that she doesn't have too much liquid nip and make a fool of herself. During the holidays, Mommy had so many parties that I decided the best place to watch her was right on the back of her chair so that I could give her a friendly tap on the shoulder if she got out of hand.

Grandma was visiting from Ottawa and she snapped some photos of me 'on the job'.

Before I was around to take care of Mommy, Grandma had to do this job, so I gave her a knowing wink to let her know that Mommy won't get out of hand on my watch!

Don't worry, Grandma, the lampshades are still on the lamps!

Finally Friday

Mommy has had an extra busy work week so we are looking forward to the weekend to relax!

Next Wednesday it will be our 2 year blogaversary so we are going to need to rest up this weekend for all the festivities. We decided that this year we were going to have a commentathon to help the awesome Chrystal of Daily Dose of Dogs build her second cathouse!

We will donate 50 cents for every comment on our post on Wednesday, January 19th until midnight (EST) of that night, so please drop by and visit us! (one comment per blogger)

In the meantime we've added the Chip-In gadget to our sidebar if anyone would like to donate to such a wonderful cause. Chrystal has helped many cats and dogs and we want to help give her the opportunity to help more.

Tortie Tuesday

I don't understand humans and their need to constantly document things with pictures. It is quite obvious that I am sleeping and not up for posing for photos, but Mommy keeps persisting.

Maybe if I close my eyes really tight she will get the hint and go away.

Mommy is one stubborn woman! I need to learn how to use that camera and take photos of her when she's sleeping. That'll teach her!

Mancat Monday

I can't cut a break when Sweet Pea is here! She's everywhere I go!

Can I just enjoy this box by myself, Sweet Pea?

Sweet Pea: Nope, your tail is too irresistible!

Sheesh, I need to get that thing shaved!

Finally Friday

Sweet Pea here!

I'm so happy that it's Friday because it's a very special day today. It's my Daddy's birthday! We are going over to The Monkeys' house to celebrate later but in the meantime I'll show you some pictures of his favorite thing - ME!

We have such a fun time together and even though he's real old, he still knows how to play like a kitten.

Also, we met a really cool new blogging cat named Morgan that you should all meet. He's brand new and doesn't have many visitors yet, so you can visit him HERE.

Happy Friday!

Tortie T(h)ursday

Mommy made an appointment at a groomer for me!

She has been brushing me every day and even asked Praline's Mom, Paula, advice on keeping a Persian knot-free, but Mommy neglected to brush my tummy and armpits enough, because suddenly, overnight it seems, I have knots on my tummy! Mommy doesn't want to attempt to cut them out herself, so now I'm going in for a spa day.

She promised me that she would not let them shave me. She knows how self-conscious I was with my last shave, and I know she wants to keep me looking beautiful. I've worked very hard to grow my furs and I don't want to look like this again...

I hope she keeps her promise and I think she will, but I'm still nervous and I can't even look at her!

Praline, can I move in with you? Just by looking at your beautiful fur, your Mom is obviously not negligent like mine!

Tortie Tuesday

Bella has been living here for six months now and I think I've discovered something very eerie about her that has me a little concerned.

She spends a lot of time in front of our balcony window looking at the view...or so it appears. Mommy and I have noticed that at times she seems to go into a trance and then something strange happens! For example, she spent a lot of time staring at a plant on the balcony and then *POOF* it tipped over! There was no wind that day. As soon as it tipped, Bella walked away satisfied. She has done a lot of other strange things too, like she conjured up a twirling birdie show and then another time a freak storm on a clear day.

Bella's powers have become a running joke with Mommy and The Ball Guy, but I think this is very serious. Does Bella have magical powers? Can she conjure up salmon? Do all Torties get more powers when they get to 11-years old like Bella?

My biggest concern is whether she is a good Tortie Witch or a bad one...

Oh great Tortie Goddess in the sky, I know I'm only 4-years old but please grant me my Tortie Powers early so that Bella doesn't turn me into a toad!
