Tortie Tuesday

We are very sad that our friend Praline left us all yesterday.   I really hoped all my special Tortie Persian purring  would help her recover but I know it was time for her to go.  I know she'll make a beautiful angel.

I think today will be a very quiet day of reflection for me.

I love this corner of the sofa.  It's a perfect size for me and I can still feel the sunshine on my back.

My housemates usually leave me alone here, but sometimes Samson likes to check on me.

He's not so bad.  He always respects my space.  I just wish he wouldn't stare at me so lovingly!

Mancat Monday

Mommy was at the human liquid nip store before the long weekend and she came home with a beer named after me!

It was a beer from the Czech Republic with my name on it!

I wondered how this company could name a beer after me without ever having met me but I'm a pretty transparent Mancat.  I actually think I'm more like a fine wine, though.

The real test was the taste, and since I don't like beer, I asked Mommy to try a few Samsons.

Mommy?  How does it taste?  Are you okay?  Why do you look like you're about to tip over?

Apparently it tastes really good because she had a lot of them!

House of Horrors

My beautiful friend Fin is hosting a House of Horrors week this week.

We, like most of you, have plenty of horrifying things in and around our apartment.  For example, we thought we had slayed the evil vacuum, but Mommy went and bought a Horrifying Hoover (a distant relative of Fin's Evil Dyson) last week.  This one is louder than our previous vacuum, and we're all trying to figure out how to rid ourselves of it.  I hid in the shell it hatched from to come up with some ideas.  I'll let you all know if I come up with anything...

I also discovered something extremely shocking that I'm a little nervous to admit.  Because of MY allergies, we've been switched over to a new food.  Our vet and some of you knowledgeable readers suggested that the best way to find out if my allergy is to a food ingredient is to switch over to a new food with a different protein and carbohydrate than what we're used to.  We are in mid-transition here, but look what we're eating now.

Rabbit = Easter Bunny!

That's right, we're eating Easter Bunny and we're all loving it!

Yummy!

It's difficult for me to face you all, because when your humans don't get chocolate on Sunday, you will have to tell them that The Monkeys ruined Easter by eating the Easter Bunny!

I hope you can forgive us and that you have a wonderful Easter despite this horrible news.

Tortie T(h)ursday

Mommy calls me The Queen of Wordless Wednesdays because of my adorable face and funny poses - but I do have things to say, she's just not very good at picking up what I communicate.  I requested a post to explain myself and hopefully open the doors of communication between Mommy and I.

The other day I had been sitting with my leg up in the air on and off for almost a whole day.  Both of the humans thought it was 'adorable', 'so cute' and I even heard them use the word 'silly' .  The reality was, I was quite uncomfortable, but it took them a whole day to figure that out!

You see, our regular food has been discontinued for sale in Quebec because of some silly language laws (don't get me started on language laws!) so Mommy figured it was a good opportunity to change us all over to a food that had a different protein and carbohydrate than what we've been eating so we could finally figure out what Samson is so allergic to and if it was indeed a food allergy.

She was very pleased that she eventually found a food that we all would eat and that would be good for allergies, but before she found this food, she had been trying a number of different ones.  I don't have to tell you all that older cats and usually most cats in general should not be switched over abruptly to a new food.  I'm 11 years old and my little tummy didn't react as well as my housemates' systems.  I realize it is not very ladylike to discuss, but in the interest of full disclosure and Mommy's slowness in picking things up, I feel I must spell it out - all the food changes gave me T.H.E. R.U.N.S!

Ack! The shame!

Mommy eventually figured it out after she went to do her cleaning of our toilets.

I am feeling more 'solid' now and hopefully Mommy is going to be more open to the very clear messages I'm sending out!  Come on...as if my signs weren't obvious enough!

Thank you for your time but most of all, thank you for listening!

Tortie Tuesday

Yesterday Samson reported that we purchased a new sofa, but he conveniently missed the very important process that anything new needs to go through when it arrives at our house.  Anything that comes in - including groceries, bags of litter and of course sofas must go through my conquering and then approving process.

To conquer an item, you need to get on top of it to show it who's stronger.  This sofa came in a couple of parts, so I was busy sitting on all the pieces.

Using your lasers can help you show the new item that you are very strong.  This is a power move and should only be used when the new item is much larger than you - like this sofa.

Once the item is sufficiently terrified, you can then have a little telepathic conversation with it to let it know that if it gets out of hand, you may need to use your horrifying lasers again.  The items don't ever talk back so I know I must be doing my job right.
This item is approved and conquered so the humans can now proceed with the assembly...after I have a snooze.

One important note to remember about any new piece of furniture in your home is that you need to get your claws into it as soon as possible once it's assembled.

Watch out for the reappearance of this feared cat foe, though.

The dreaded spray bottle seems to always reappear when there's new items to be clawed.

Mancat Monday

Mommy has been wanting to buy a new sofa for awhile and she finally did the other day.

Of course I helped in the assembly process by snoopervising The Ball Guy while he put it together.  It was comfy even before the cushions went on!

He did a fabulous job because this is very comfortable.  In fact, I think I'll claim this as 'my' spot.

I just hope Bella doesn't try to go for my remote!

Finally Friday

Our Mommy is a little busy because her favorite hockey team is in the Stanley Cup Playoffs...

Yeah, we don't get it either.  If you don't see us around much, you know it's because the Canadians are doing well in the playoffs.

Here's a belly shot to take the edge off in the meantime.

I hope you have a good weekend!

Tortie Tuesday

Mommy always tells me that I am too serious.  She doesn't understand that Torties have work to do and we don't rest until all of the creatures and things in our house are safe.

Take for example this situation where Mommy carelessly leaves her purse on the floor near the door.  I know that inside that purse there is treat and cat food money so I must protect it from people or cats who want cat treats!

Mommy tells me to relax and not worry about things too much.

See Mommy, Sweet Pea is trying to get at your purse!  You need to take ME more seriously!

Mancat Monday

Mommy has been doing a lot of Spring cleaning in the last couple of weeks.  Normally I don't get very excited about it, but this year while cleaning she found an unopened plague rat!

I played, bunny-kicked and chewed while Mommy kept cleaning.  I must have played for hours!

It was exhausting but I couldn't stop!

I know as soon as I put this down, one of the Torties will grab it!

Marg's Birthday!

We don't usually post on the weekends unless it's for a special occasion, and today it is Marg's birthday!

I think Marg is one of the most wonderful humans I've ever met. She has dedicated her life to helping so many animals and we all adore her.

I didn't know in advance that it was her birthday so I didn't have time to shop around, but I did find these yummy treats and a cute mousie for her!  Who doesn't love a good mousie to play with?

Happy Birthday, Marg!

Funny Friday

Mommy has been extra slack about posting this week. She's been very busy at work but she says we should be back to normal by next week.

A couple of weeks ago we won the Christmas stocking in the auction for Marg's Animals. The stocking was donated by The Island Cats so they mailed it to us and it arrived yesterday. Mommy opened the package partially, but got distracted and started making dinner. I am fairly sure that the very handsome Wally and Ernie must have rubbed all over the package before they mailed it because it smelled amazing!

When Mommy came out of the kitchen, she saw the stocking pulled out of the torn apart package and all the stuffing of the inside of the envelope all over the floor. She burst out laughing when she saw my face.

What? I was just trying to help.

Bella inspected the stocking and it was in perfect condition so I only did damage to the envelope!

Mancat Monday

I have always loved watching TV with Mommy, but since we got a bigger TV, I'm even more excited about it.

Of course my favorite channel is Animal Planet, but I also come running whenever I hear the voice of the blond woman on CSI Miami. My favorite things to watch are women, horses and of course, CATS!

During the show I like to chatter away to Mommy about all the interesting things I'm seeing. I coo at the pretty girl cats and click my teeth when I'm excited.

Look at that pretty little kitten, Mommy!

A birdie and a cat? That's just not right! I can't watch.

P.S. If you click on some of the photos you can see the skin flakes on my back from my allergic reaction. I also have scaling and scabbing on the parts where my ear meets my head. These photos were taken on Friday so my medication hadn't had the time to kick in yet. I'm feeling a lot less itchy now with the pills that my vet prescribed. He wanted to try a lower dose this time and it still seems to be working. Thank you for your purrs!

Finally Friday

We have been posting only sporadically lately because Mommy says she's very busy at work. Of course, she always says that and until she actually brings me in with her to prove it, I'm a little skeptical.

Unfortunately Samson's allergies have started to come back so Mommy made an appointment for him at the vet last night. The awful thing is that she brought me too! She said she didn't want me getting aggressive with Samson when he comes home like I did last time, and she wanted to have my teeth checked out and a limp I seemed to have for the last couple of days.

If she had had the manners to ask ahead of time, I would've told her that I didn't need to go. My limp disappeared magically before we got there and my teeth are perfect! Samson has to have medication again for his itchies, though.

Surprise vet visits means Mommy gets the back of disapproval!

P.S.  We were supposed to do a Flashback Friday for Bella and Sweet Pea, but Mommy forgot in all her 'busyness' so we'll do that next week.
