Tortie Tuesday
Last week Gabriel had an appointment to see the vet for his booster shots and a follow-up to the crystals in his urine. Mommy saw this as an opportunity to bring me in for a geriatric blood test.
Of course, I protested. Who is she calling geriatric? I can run circles around that woman!
The rest of the Monkeys have not yet met Gabriel, but I saw that little rotter through the holes of our respective carriers. I had to sit staring at him while the nice vet called him 'cute' and 'adorable' and showered affection on him all the while waiting for a 'geriatric' blood test. This will definitely cost Mommy some future snuggles. We didn't have a camera at the vet's but I gave Mommy my famous 'I do not approve' look through the wires of the cage. This is a recreation of that look.
Finally it was my turn. The vet told Mommy that he does not believe I'm 12 years old because I am in remarkable shape. I think I might like that man! He took my blood and gave me a smooch.
The blood results came back the next day and he called Mommy to tell her I'm perfect. All of my levels are normal to above-average. Shouldn't she have known this already? I think she needs a geriatric blood test if she can't figure that out just by looking at me!
Mommy gets the Back of Disapproval for 2 weeks - 1 week with good behavior.

P.S. Gabriel's exam went just as well as mine did so the humans will finally get to introduce him to Samson and Delilah next weekend.

Cascades Boutique Cat House Giveaway
We are very lucky cats! Cascades Boutique asked us if we would like to review one of their recycled cardboard cat houses. Of course we said yes. They are made out of recycled fibers and water-based inks, so they can be recycled again once you're done with them.
We had a choice of a teepee or a log cabin. Delilah wanted the teepee, so I agreed (what's the point in arguing with a tortie?).
Here comes the exciting news - we get to give one away! The winner can choose either a log cabin or a teepee like ours. This drawing is for people who live in North America only. If you're in North America and want to be entered, simply leave a comment with your cat house preference and we'll draw a winner from all the commenters. Cascade will ship the prize to the winner free!

If you know me at all, you know that I am obsessed with cardboard boxes, so of course I love this teepee. It has the consistency of a nice comfy box with just a slightly different shape. I also think I look ruggedly handsome in my new tent.
I love this teepee and I could sleep here all day. Unfortunately Delilah wants her turn. I can feel her presence somewhere close!
Delilah has always loved tents and cubes, so she loves the shape of it. This teepee incorporates both my love of boxes and Deli's love of tents, so I have a feeling we're going to have to learn to share.
Bella wanted nothing to do with our teepee. She rolled her big, googly eyes at us and asked why we would choose camping out over a big bed of memory foam. She can be so snobby!
If you're outside of North America, don't be sad because we are doing a separate drawing for you. We will be sending the winner of the international drawing a $20.00 USD gift certificate for The Beaded Tail's Etsy store! For international participants, you will just need to comment to enter
We will announce the winners on Monday! We will close entries on Sunday at 4:00PM EST. Good luck!
In the meantime, If you would like to purchase a cardboard pet house, you can get a 25% discount by using the coupon code MONKEYS at checkout. This offer is valid until September 30th.

Tortie Loves Tiki Cat Tuesday
I guess you can tell by the title of this blog that I've finished my evaluation of Tiki Cat food and I absolutely love it! Mommy loves it too, but she says it's because the ingredients are great and it's good for me.
I am a hearty eater and I love everything with any kind of fish, but Mommy was completely surprised how much I loved this food. I purred and grunted while eating some of the flavours which is something I've never done with any other food. My favorite was the Honolulu Luau (tuna on rice with crab surimi)!
Bella was also in love with this food, but she was much pickier than I was. She didn't like any of the mackerel or sardine flavours, but with all the tuna, salmon and crab flavours, she cleaned her plate!
Samson was the only one of us that didn't like it at all, but we only had the fish flavours and he doesn't like any fish - never has. Samson even turns up his nose to tuna!
I recruited Sweet Pea and Gabriel to get the 'young cat opinion'. They didn't say much, but you can tell by the way they're eating, that they really loved it. Their Daddy gave Gabriel the medicine for his crystals in the food and he didn't even notice! That's why you can see him trying to keep Sweet Pea out of Gabriel's bowl.
We want to thank David, from The TreatsWell Company for giving us the opportunity to test this fabulous food! It is fairly new to Canada but is currently widely available in Ontario and western Canada. For our local readers in Montreal, by September it should be in more stores, but for now, you can find it in Little Bear on Sainte Catherine West and in the Pitou Minou & Compagnons locations.

P.S. While we were given the food free to test, we did not receive any other compensation for reviewing this food and all of the opinions are our own.

Tortie Tuesday
Samson revealed my new look yesterday, but I thought I'd give you all a more thorough view of my new do.
As much as I loved all of my floof, I'm really loving the freedom and airiness of my lion's cut.
Check out my cool boots!
Thankfully I'm a very petite girl, so this outfit even looks great from behind.
I'm sure Deli wouldn't be able to say the same if she had the same haircut!

Mancat Monday
The weather has been nice and warm here so I've been just lying around looking handsome trying to beat the heat.
We have air conditioning so it really doesn't ever get too hot. That's why I was shocked to see that Bella took off all her furs!
Kittens, hide your eyes - this next photo is rated X!
She is strutting around with no furs and she doesn't seem to care what Deli and I think!
I know it's rude, but I can't take my eyes off her. You think you know a cat and suddenly they turn into a nudist!
She does look comfy, though. Maybe I should take off all my furs too.

Tortie Tuesday
I've said it before, but it warrants saying again - Mommy is lazy!
Quite awhile ago she told me that I'd have to go in for a spa day to get rid of my knots, but she just loves my beautiful coat and didn't want to have me shaved, so she tried a DIY knot removal.
Let me tell you, I'm not happy! My head looks like a mushroom and my fur is all uneven!
Aside from the fact that I look silly, the weather has started to get really hot. I put my paw down and demanded she take me to a professional groomer.
I have an appointment for Saturday for a lion's cut. Maybe this time she'll learn that if she wants me to have a long, luxurious coat, she needs to take care of brushing me more often!

Tortie Tuesday
It has been almost a year since I moved into this house to become a Monkey and I'm very happy to report that I'm mostly satisfied with my forever home.
I say mostly because there are a few things I'd change...
I heard the humans discussing how naughty I had become. I couldn't believe they were calling ME naughty! I'm a very well-behaved and distinguished ladycat. Then, after much reflection, it occurred to me that they were calling me KNOTTY! That made a lot more sense but I know this means that they're considering getting a shave for me. My knots have become unmanageable and they are close to the skin so Mommy doesn't want to risk trying to cut them out.
Of course it will be nice and cool for the summer but I'm not going to let on that I'm happy about this turn of events. It is much more of an advantage for me if Mommy thinks I disapprove...and I know just the face to use.

Mancat Monday
More than a week ago, Mommy switched us all over to a hypo-allergenic food to begin the food trials for my allergies.
At first I was extremely upset because that means absolutely no other food - including treats!
Then I found out that Delilah and Bella are also on the same regiment in case I try to eat from other bowls. Now that I know my girls are supporting me, it's a lot easier to deal with.
So why do I feel like there are glaring eyes at the back of my head?

Tortie Tuesday
We are very sad that our friend Praline left us all yesterday. I really hoped all my special Tortie Persian purring would help her recover but I know it was time for her to go. I know she'll make a beautiful angel.
I think today will be a very quiet day of reflection for me.
I love this corner of the sofa. It's a perfect size for me and I can still feel the sunshine on my back.
My housemates usually leave me alone here, but sometimes Samson likes to check on me.
He's not so bad. He always respects my space. I just wish he wouldn't stare at me so lovingly!

Tortie T(h)ursday
Mommy calls me The Queen of Wordless Wednesdays because of my adorable face and funny poses - but I do have things to say, she's just not very good at picking up what I communicate. I requested a post to explain myself and hopefully open the doors of communication between Mommy and I.
The other day I had been sitting with my leg up in the air on and off for almost a whole day. Both of the humans thought it was 'adorable', 'so cute' and I even heard them use the word 'silly' . The reality was, I was quite uncomfortable, but it took them a whole day to figure that out!
You see, our regular food has been discontinued for sale in Quebec because of some silly language laws (don't get me started on language laws!) so Mommy figured it was a good opportunity to change us all over to a food that had a different protein and carbohydrate than what we've been eating so we could finally figure out what Samson is so allergic to and if it was indeed a food allergy.
She was very pleased that she eventually found a food that we all would eat and that would be good for allergies, but before she found this food, she had been trying a number of different ones. I don't have to tell you all that older cats and usually most cats in general should not be switched over abruptly to a new food. I'm 11 years old and my little tummy didn't react as well as my housemates' systems. I realize it is not very ladylike to discuss, but in the interest of full disclosure and Mommy's slowness in picking things up, I feel I must spell it out - all the food changes gave me T.H.E. R.U.N.S!
Mommy eventually figured it out after she went to do her cleaning of our toilets.
I am feeling more 'solid' now and hopefully Mommy is going to be more open to the very clear messages I'm sending out! Come on...as if my signs weren't obvious enough!
Thank you for your time but most of all, thank you for listening!

Mancat Monday
Mommy has been wanting to buy a new sofa for awhile and she finally did the other day.
Of course I helped in the assembly process by snoopervising The Ball Guy while he put it together. It was comfy even before the cushions went on!
He did a fabulous job because this is very comfortable. In fact, I think I'll claim this as 'my' spot.
