New Computer

We got a new computer! Mommy got tired of waiting for her old one to be fixed and just bought a brand new one. She's still going to fix the old one and use it for her side business (if it's fixable). She doesn't have all her pictures and music back but at least she can upload new ones and Samson and I can blog again!

I, of course, had to snoopervise the whole process.

Hmmm..the box looks promising. I bet Sammy and I could both fit in it.

Oh? I should get off the box? Geez, why didn't you say something, silly?

It passes the sniff test!

Alright, now that I've approved, leave me while I break it in. Oh and could you bring me a snack while you're up?

When I'm done, Samson will fur it up! He's very good at his job ;)

Have a great Saturday!

P.S. Mommy gets frustrated about the photos of me because she says they're always blurry. The secret is, just when you see the photographer about to click, move!

Friday Frivolities

Still no computer! Delilah keeps telling me it's my fault because I used to sit on it so much. I hope not because Mommy is not too pleased without all her pictures of us. I certainly don't want her mad at me :(

Deli found this video that she says is proof that I broke it!

I hope all of you have a great weekend!

Mmmm Beer!

I totally love the taste of beer! The humans found this out one day when they caught me licking the opening of the empties and so they put a little bit in a beer cap and I lapped it up! Mommy, of course, is concerned that it is not good for me but I don't drink nearly as much as them (or, more specifically, the Ball Guy. Mommy usually drinks white wine..YUCK!). I saw the Ball Guy drink almost a full box of the stuff and I only have a capful once a week! Ummm, don't tell Mommy but sometimes I 'meep' at the Ball Guy and get an extra capful....

Apparently there is a video or two of me drinking beer from the cap but with the mess that's going on with Mommy's computer, I don't think they'll find it anytime soon. Mommy mentioned that she did not want to put it on YouTube (even though it was very cute) because she didn't want to encourage people who might laugh at that video and then try to get their cat drunk! Moderation is key (yes, Mommy and Ball Guy, I mean YOU!) and I know my limits. I never try to drive after a couple of capfuls either :)

P.S. Update on the computer: You may have noticed most of the pictures Mommy is using are older ones where we're kittens...this is because her computer is still not fixed and she has to use the pictures she has in her computer at work. She has a friend at work looking at it so you can't rush someone who is doing something for free. She is thinking about buying a new one and using the older one for her business when it's fixed.

Spay Day USA (and Canada too)

Happy Spay Day everyone!

This is a pic of Mommy and I :).

Mommy had written a long, angry rant about people who do not spay or neuter their pets but scrapped most of it because she realized she was preaching to the choir. She said that it is much better to think about the wonderful people who take care of their responsibilities as compassionate human beings and do what they can to bring the over-population of pets down. Even though it's better to think about all the goodness that is out there, it's also important to recognize why the problem is there. Here's a part of the story we wanted to share. This is Karen, aka my Mommy:

"I was playing a game in a favorite chat/game website of mine and asked an online acquaintance how her new kitten 'Snowpants' was. She replied that he was now living outside because he had 'sprayed' her home office. She added that he was lucky he was not dead. I was so shocked and horrified because from previous conversations with this woman, I thought she had a love for animals (she also has two dogs). I tried to remain calm and asked her if Snowpants was fixed. She replied that no, he had not been fixed but still came around for food. I told her that Snowpants could potentially father thousands and thousands of unwanted kittens and that if she didn't want to spend the money to get him neutered, that she should bring him to a no-kill shelter where he cannot reproduce and hopefully be adopted out. I found her a low-cost spay/neuter location in her area of Texas that she could 'afford' to bring Snowpants. She had never expressed a lack of money in the past, but somehow now it seemed she did not have the money. I blurted out 'Then you shouldn't have ever got him'. Surely she could make that 'sacrifice' and have this poor kitten fixed. I tried to convince her to bring him in to be neutered and then bring him to the shelter. Or worst case scenario, just bring him to the shelter and not leave him outside! I tried to make her understand that Snowpants alone would contribute to the suffering of so many kittens and cats waiting for homes. She said she felt bad about it but I'm not sure if she is going to do anything about it (although she said she would). I can only hope that I convinced her to do something about this situation.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Snowpants is not left to procreate at will and I will try to keep my distaste for this woman inside until I convince her to take care of her responsibilities."

I can see why she's mad. That woman sounds so selfish. I hope Snowpants is alright and gets placed in a home with someone who loves him enough to ensure he's not able to make more kittens that don't have a home. I also hope my Mommy can convince this woman to bring Snowpants in to be fixed. I told Mommy to breathe and concentrate on the task at hand. She's like a bull in a china shop but we love her anyway ;)

Mankitten Monday

Our computer died! On Friday night the computer just poofed! Mommy was so mad, she thinks it's a virus or something. I think it was Delilah's URI. Mommy says they're not related but Deli was really sneezing there for awhile!

Anyway, it's getting fixed but Mommy has to post at work and she's pretty restricted there so she wanted me to mention that we wouldn't be around much until the computer is fixed :(

Most of our pictures are on that poor disabled computer but Mommy says she has some special ones at work that she'll post for us. I, for one, was very flattered that while she's at work, she still looks at our pictures. She really must love us a lot!

It's Mancat Monday but this picture of me is when I was a little tiny boy! Little Tiny Boy Monday doesn't sound right so how about Mankitten Monday??

Have a great Monday everyone!

P.S. I almost forgot to mention We were all saddened to hear about the passing of our favorite famous tuxie cat, Socks!

Spider Hunters

Mommy is pretty lenient with us and she doesn't ask a lot. In fact, she's really big on letting us 'do our thing' as she says. We have a lot of freedom and very few jobs in this house, but we still have certain things that we have to take care of. Besides loving her and keeping her warm at night, our next priority is getting rid of any bugs that dare to set eight feet in our lair. She HATES spiders and bugs! She always lets out a God-awful scream and we know we have a job to do. Samson and I know what that scream means and we always respond with enthusiasm. One time I heard Mommy cry out in the bathroom and I ran to her side to find her pointing at the ground, shaking with fear. Usually I like to torture the little critters and then dispose of them but this one had apparently had the nerve to jump on her head, then her shoulder before she brushed it off onto the ground! I had to munch that one up really quickly to show Mommy that I was capable of efficiently removing the threat. Spiders taste yucky but we always get yummy treats after we take care of them.

Winter time means less spiders but last night there was one on the wall! This one was a little tricky because I have not yet developed my ability to climb the walls (I am working on it, though). Sammy and I waited patiently (it seemed like hours!) but finally it climbed down enough for Samson to grab it. We are spider killers extraordinaire! Check out the concentration we have in this photo! Samson is usually a cam hog and poses whenever the humans have a camera but you can see he is focused on the task at hand.

It's finally Friday and we have had a hard week chewing bugs so we're going to relax all weekend! Have a great weekend everyone!

Smoking and Cats

Hi everyone! Samson here to talk about a very important issue. I'm putting my serious face on now.

Mommy is a smoker and she's trying to quit. Not that we want to lay any guilt trips down but WE do not want to smoke too! As you can see by the photo, I tried it once when I was young and foolish. I think I was trying to get Deli to think I was a tough guy or something but it didn't work and she just laughed at me. Anyway, we found this article that hopefully will encourage her by making her realize that it can make us very sick. We think she knows this already and we're sure that she's not purposely trying to hurt us but we don't think she completely realizes what smoking around our little lungs can do to us! She's always tried to keep the room ventilated and smoke near the window but that is simply not enough. We are putting our paws down!

She is supposed to have surgery on March 26th and the doctor has told her she needs to quit at least one week before that. We're going to try to encourage her as much as we can to severely cut down before then (if not quit completely) and to not smoke around us! She's already committed to not smoke around us so that's a relief but we'll really only be totally happy when she stops completely. We love her and want her around for all of our years (Delilah thinks that Torties live longer than other cats but I have my doubts).

Go Mommy, Go! And remember that we do not want to choke (okay, maybe a little bit of a guilt trip heehee)

Tortie Skills Tuesday

A couple of weeks ago for Tortie Tuesday I showcased my love of fetching soccer balls. This week I want to show you another skill I have; leaping! Now this video is a little dark and if Mommy didn't have so much darned stuff on the shelf, I would've cleared it. Hopefully you'll get the idea. I usually clear it and maybe one day these slow humans will get it on video!

I also wanted to show off some of my new Tortie friends. Tasha (I totally loved that story of how she found her humans), Georgia, Pearl and Isabella!

Happy Tortie Tuesday!

The Mudman - Mancat Monday

Before Samson and I arrived, there was another creature living here. In fact, the only reason we are here, is because he decided to leave. I refer to him as a creature because, by all accounts, he was larger than a cat is supposed to be. Mommy called him 'Muddy' or 'The Mudman' and describes him as a 33 pound huge cat. From what I understand, he wasn't very overweight (although I've seen his pictures and he definitely could have taken off a few pounds). His vet said he was a 'freak of nature' and compared him to a 7 foot man in a cat's body. He had long legs, a big fat head and his body was long as heck. Mommy is tall for a female human (5'10") and when he wanted food, he'd stretch up and put his paws on her waist!

Mommy loved him so much and she sometimes gets sad and thinks about him. He died only a few days before I came here and she was a mess when I first saw her. One of my many jobs on this earth is to make Mommy happy and that's why I wanted to write this tribute about her beloved Muddy. She said I would've loved him a lot and we would have gotten along famously. She doesn't know the half of it! A 33 pound docile cat would have made a great friend! I can only imagine how fun it would be to ride on his back like a birdie on a hippo! I would never get hassled by anyone! I'm a tortie so I definitely demand a certain amount of respect on my own but can you imagine a tortie and a giant cat?! We'd rule the world!!!

Anyway, I never met Muddy but I can tell that Mommy loved him just as much as she loves me and Sammy. I thought this was a funny picture of him getting a shave. She uses this to threaten Samson and I if we don't let her brush us! She says she'll do this to us if we get any knots. She better be kidding....

Muddy, you're definitely missed but don't worry too much about Mommy because Samson and I are here to make sure she's okay. Love ya big guy!!

My Furry Valentine

Delilah can go on and on about her human Valentine...I think she's kidding herself. I have photographic evidence that proves she's ALL mine!

I love that furry girl of mine!

Happy Valentine's day everyone!

The Ball Guy - My Human Valentine

I love my Mommy very much. I mean, I chose her, right? I made a great choice because food and love are always available, but the thing I love about her the most is she got me the best toy ever; THE BALL GUY!!! Mommy calls him 'Brad' or 'Bread'...I can't quite figure it out. All I know is he's always got my favorite Nerf soccer balls and we play for hours and hours!

I'm a tortoiseshell so I'm very active. I have a huge drive to hunt and run and beat up things. The Ball Guy is the only one who truly understands my tortie need to go crazy and have fun.

Sometimes he comes over in the day when Mommy goes out in the hall to do her thing (I haven't quite figured out what she does out there but I'm working on it! Monday to Friday she spends up to 10 hours in the hall!). I love my alone time with The Ball Guy. He's so easy to get treats out of. I just 'meep' and he's putty in my paws ;). He puts on his crazy slippers and runs up and down the hall with me. After we're both a little tired, I get on his shoulder and let him spank my behind. Sounds crazy but I love it and I LOVE HIM! He is my Valentine this year.

He is an artist and he's painted me a few times. He did the paintings of Samson and I in our logo at the top. He has a website called Simpson Pet Art and guess who is on the front page? ME!! He loves me too, I'm sure of it. Why else would he put a big painting of me on his website?

Samson loves him too. Here's a picture of Samson trying to be like the Ball Guy when he was small. Who could blame him for wanting to be like him?

Samson knows that I love him (even though I give him a hard time sometimes) but the Ball Guy is my Human Valentine!

Happy Love day!

More Cats in Boxes

Mommy was looking at old pictures of us for yesterdays post and she found all these 'Samson in Boxes' pics. We'll indulge her...

Flat Cat in a Box

I just love when Mommy buys something new that comes in a box! There's just nothing better. She usually lets us use the box for awhile until we destroy it or we get tired of using it and then she brings it down to the recycling bin.

Life is good!

Have a great Wednesday!

Samson

P.S. Mommy says the effects of the Lunar eclipse on Monday are still happening until next Monday so be careful!

Tortie 'on the mend' Tuesday

I'm feeling so much better today and I want to thank you all for your purrs and well wishes!

Mommy asked The Ball Guy to come over to watch me again today because she's a worrier but I don't mind 'cause I really love him. I didn't have to take the antibiotics although if I start sneezing again, I will. Mommy was told to watch for loss of appetite and mucus (ewww!) but so far I'm eating a lot and sneezing clear fluid. She's treating my eye with a cream two times a day and it's starting to feel less itchy.

Thanks again for your purrs!

P.S. Elin gave us this badge for being her friend! Thanks, Elin! We want to have Mommy make us one too :) She's so pretty!

Mancat Monday

Delilah is sick and Mommy has been paying so much attention to her! She went to work and she even got the Ball Guy to come over to watch Deli. I've used some super cute moves and I just get the occasional rub or 'Hiya Fuzz!'. The only time I got any real attention all weekend was when I inhaled a catnip leaf and it made me sneeze. I've been really pulling out all the stops to get noticed and needless to say, it's exhausting! I am just gonna have a lil' snooze...

My Big Sister

Delilah has been sick and I'm doing what I can to watch over her. She doesn't chase me or let me clean her and just lies there being sad. Here are some pictures of me 'on the job'. I tried to get in the carrier with her but she sneezed all over my face. I figured this was the safest and driest place to hang.

My motivation is simple; I get much more attention when she's feeling like herself! All that aside, I love my big sis and I want her back to her bossy self soon.

The Sniffles

I've been sneezing for a few days and yesterday and last night it got really bad. I sneezed so hard that I hit my chin on a rock in the abandoned aquarium that Sammy and I sleep in. It looked more painful than it actually was, but I loved the doting I got from Mommy and the Ball Guy.

Mommy didn't sleep because she was so worried about my sniffles. As soon as the vet opened this morning she called and got an appointment for me to go in. The vet was very kind (although I didn't like that she pulled me out of my carrier and put that pointy thing in my behind!!). She told Mommy that I had a URI and it probably just flared up from stress. She said I probably caught it when I was on my own as a kitten or from my mother and that it is a recurrent thing. The vet wants to wait until Monday to see if I can fight the infection off myself but if it continues to get worse, I'll have to take antibiotics. I'm eating well and have no fever but I'm not as active as I usually am. I just feel yucky! There was also a little bit of an infection in my left eye that Mommy got cream for to treat it. I'll be fine soon but Mommy needs to take a pill; a chill pill! She worries too much about me although I can't say I hate the attention ;).

We got an awesome award from our buds Franklin, Dobby and Tasha and Mickey, Georgia and Tillie and we're really so thankful! We're going to post about it tomorrow because Mommy looks like she ran a marathon and I am tired too so we're going to take a cat nap. Poor Samson will have to find something to do while we snooze because he feels fine!

Delilah
xoxo

P.S. Mommy wanted me to ask about something and I almost forgot. The vet recommended a nutritional supplement called Viralys which is L-Lysine HCI that is supposed to boost my immune system. She bought the gel but wants to read about it first (she doesn't let us take anything without knowing about it first). She wanted me to ask if anyone else is taking it or has heard of it. She'd greatly appreciate any feedback :)

Glamour shots!

Our good buddies Pearl, Bert and Jake, gave us this awesome award!

Here is what it means:

"LOVE YA" award winner... These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award
.

Pretty amazing! We're going to choose a few of our friends for this including Pearl, Bert and Jake as one

Peanut Butter and Jenny
Kiddo!
Franklin, Dobby and Tasha!
The Creek Cats!
Poppy Q!
Samantha and Mr. Tigger!
The Island cats!
Mickey, Georgia and Tillie!

There are so many more but we could only give out eight :(. Oops, there's nine! We're cats, we can't count...

Anyway, we're so honored that we got some glamour shots ready (just in case the press needs them). Mommy says our heads will get too big to fit in our litter box but she's just jealous!

Cat versus printer

I don't understand humans and all their crazy stuff. What the heck is this thing? It doesn't even make pictures that look normal! Deli seems to not care so much but I think the Ball Guy gets it...

Superbowl Sunday

We're cats so there's not much exciting about Superbowl Sunday. Basically we get ignored for hours. At least with regular TV shows, the humans stop by and pet us a bit during the commercials but the Superbowl has commercials they want to watch! Our best chance of getting a little human action is if we hang out in the bathroom and look cute.

There's only one advantage of Superbowl Sunday and that's the junk food. Mommy has us on these super strict, grain-free diets but when she's not looking, maybe we'll get a couple of pigs in blankets to lick and then discard. Those blankets are yummy pastry :)

Go Steelers!
