Tortie Tuesday

Lurking

This weeks Tortie lesson is in lurking.

The difference between lurking and hiding is that with lurking, you actually want to eventually be discovered to intimidate your prey(we will discuss intimidation in an upcoming Tortie Tuesday) but only after it's too late for them to escape. Contrast in colors between your body and the area you are lurking in adds a nice touch of shock to the prey's initial horror at discovering the lurking Tortie. Imagine a mouse who innocently turns around and sees this staring back at them!

Another important factor for successful lurking is the expression on your face. I find the most effective way to produce terror in prey is to simply use the standard Tortie gaze of pure implacability. This look isn't just merciless; it's beyond mercy!

This is the face that the terrified prey will see just before its untimely demise. In this case, I was lurking up on Mommy who is far too large for any domestic cat, even a Tortie, to kill - but you get my drift.

This last photo demonstrates the hiding/lurking move - like a spider in a well concealed web. The bug (Samson) bounded upon a seemingly empty box to play in. Imagine his surprise when he peers over the edge of the box to find my unappeasable glare!

All this training is to keep myself in shape for the day when real prey dares to enter our home. In the meantime, Mommy, Samson, the Ball Guy and the occasional spider or moth will have to do.

Happy Tortie Tuesday!

Mancat Monday

Mondays don't seem the same now that Mommy is off work - she is ALWAYS on the computer! She doesn't let me sit on her tummy or lap anymore because she says it hurts too much so I've lost one of my favorite sleeping places - the computer chair!

I've employed a few methods to get it back:

1.) I strategically place myself incognito behind something on the desk so as soon as she gets up for something, I pounce on my chair! Here I am hiding behind a Perrier bottle:

2.) The next method is a little more aggressive - I sit right in front of her so she can't see the computer:

3.) If all else fails, I take the only route left - I sleep on the part of the chair she's NOT on. Sure it looks a little uncomfortable but at least I've got my chair back :)

Big thank yous and purrs for all who have voted for me in Misha's grueling Kitty Fight Club. If you haven't voted yet, I could really use the support. I'm up against a super-cute little girl named Boo. I'm usually a lover not a fighter but she is a scrappy (and cute) one!

Have a wonderful Monday!

Kitty Fight Club

I'm very excited about my entry in the Kitty Fight Club contest that the handsome Misha is hosting!

This is my official entry picture

Pretty cute, huh?

There are a lot more pictures of me as a lil' one that I posted the other day on my
'Samson's Story' post.

As Mommy and I were looking through all the pictures, there's one thing that became painfully obvious to me; I'm BIG now!

Mommy says I'm just as cute now as a fully-grown Mancat as I was as a kitten but I'm feeling a little self-conscious. Should I be thinking about a diet??!

I'd really appreciate if you all could go to Misha's page and vote for me because I'm up against some pretty tough competition! The round I'm in starts Sunday morning New Zealand time which is sometime this Saturday evening EST.

Thank you!

P.S. I just noticed when I biggified my kitten picture, one of my eyes is bigger than the other! Thankfully that corrected itself. I hope that doesn't hurt my chances in the contest!

Psychedelic Friday

Mommy filmed and photographed a little catnip fun for Sammy and I. Personally, I think she enjoys this more than we do! She sprayed catnip all over this little rug for some pre-weekend fun. It's always a good time for a little nip! Why wait for the weekend?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thankful Thursday

It's been a really tough week and we all have things to be thankful for today!

Even though I had a great time with the Ball Guy, I'm very happy that my Mommy is home (even though she's slow and doesn't do much).

I'm also thankful that Samson is feeling better and drinking lots of water like he's supposed to. Here's a video of him enjoying his new water fountain drinking bowl

I'm so happy to have my little brother back by my side

Samson is thankful that he has Mommy to sleep on again

And the sunny weather

Mommy is thankful that she's home and healing and for the kind people in her life like the Ball Guy and friends that have helped her out and given her beautiful flowers (that she won't let us eat!)

She also wanted to thank you all for your kind words and emails with advice and support about her surgery. She says it has helped a lot :)

Thank you!
