Friday Fun

Sweet Pea here!

Samson, Delilah and Bella's Mommy did not do my normally scheduled post on Thursday because she had some people over for Bella's birthday on Wednesday night. Normally I'd be hissed off, but because I was invited and I had a great time, I will let this one slide.

It was a good time to catch up and hang out with my Tortie sisters.

I received my prize from The Kitty Fight Club earlier this week and I was so excited! I love my Kong Kickeroo so much that I didn't even let Daddy take it out of the packaging before I snatched it up!

I bit it and bunny-kicked it into submission.

And then, when it least expected it, I ambushed it from behind!

I used my signature 'Sweet Pea Death Roll' move in this video.

Thank you, Misha, for such an awesome prize! I checked the package it came in for the smooch you promised me, but it wasn't there. I guess it'll be coming special delivery?

Tortie T(h)ursday

Sweet Pea here!

I went to the vet on Tuesday for my 'surprise' and it turns out that they took some parts from inside me! I was a little bit mad at Delilah for tricking me, but she explained that she was just trying to keep me from being scared. She also rallied a lot of purrs for me from all of our friends, so I guess I'll forgive her for that. Thank you to all who sent purrs! It made things go very smoothly.

When Daddy dropped me off, he explained that this was a very special surgery and that it would save me a lot of frustration in the future. He also said that it is a surgery that all girl cats should get to stop the suffering of unwanted cats and kittens with no homes. Now I'm very proud and honored to have had this surgery. I know my Daddy would never lie to me.

There were a couple of bad things about my surgery, like I'm a little tender when I try to jump places and I'm a little tired, but the worse thing is that they shaved my beautiful belly furs! Deli says they'll grow back, but I checked this morning and they're still gone! In a few days I'll be allowed to go back to see Samson and Delilah, and I'll have a word with Deli. She has a lot of explaining to do.

I was so excited to hear that I won Kitty Fight Club! I have to get back into shape soon so that I can give my prize Kong Kickeroo a good bunny-kicking. I want to thank all of you for voting for me, and, of course, the extremely handsome Misha for hosting the bouts. I was a little disappointed that the prize wasn't a smooch from him, but I will treasure my Kickeroo too. Congratulations to all the contestants! It was such a fun contest!

I didn't realize how tiring posting is, so I'll just take a little snooze now.

If you don't mind turning out the lights on your way out...thank you.

Tortie T(h)ursday

Sweet Pea here!

Delilah's Torttoes contest is finally coming to a close. I promised her that I would do a recap of all the toes so far, but I'll get to that after my news.

I'm going to the vet on Tuesday for my 'surprise'! By my next Tortie T(h)ursday, I'll know exactly what it is that Delilah is all excited about. I also have to wait until after my surprise to visit Samson and Delilah again. Their Mommy thinks Samson is getting a little kooky when he sees me. Don't tell Deli, but I think Samson has a crush on me!

I'm enjoying time in my new apartment with my Daddy. He said that after my surprise, he wants to find another Tortie friend for me. I don't know how I feel about that, but if this new Tortie is out there reading my post, I have a message for her...

He's mine!

In other Sweet Pea news, I won my last bout in Kitty Fight Club! Thank you to all of you who voted for me! I am in the finals now so I will ask you one more time if you can vote for me. You can vote by clicking HERE

Now to recap the Torttoes! Here is the list of the models again:

Delilah
Sweet Pea
Isabella from The Beaded Tail
Maggie May from The Creek Cats
The most beautiful Tortie guardian angel ever, Callie, from The Kitty Krew
Tasha from Mishkat
Sweet Praline from her self-titled blog
Pricilla from The Kitty Trio
Bijoux from Animal Shelter Volunteer Life blog
May Ling from The Katnip Lounge
Cricket from The Kool Kittie Krew
Meredith Ann from the Lilacs and Cats blog

And you'll need to match them up with these toes! I've added in new hints, but you can see the other hints by clicking HERE and HERE

1.) Way sweeter than candy! This Tortie is so floofy, you can't see the pads on her feet!

2.) I know these toes better than any toes!

3.) In Italian, they say tanto bella to mean so beautiful! I think this girl's name is appropriate.

4.) Angels come in many shapes and sizes, and this beautiful angel has a lot of brothers and sisters to watch over.

5.) When I first saw these toes, they were HUGE! Since I've grown, they're getting smaller and hurt less when they punish me, but they're still HUGE!

6. This pretty girl's Mom does a lot of work with TNR in her area, and we love her, her Mom and her brothers and sisters!

7. We think this Tortie is more beautiful than the flowers in her blog title!

8. A siamese Tortie is a beautiful thing, and this girl has plenty of spunk too! You can sometimes find her 'lounging', though.

9. This girl has the sweetest little face! She lives with her new brothers and sister and she has the cutest little human bean to play with!

10. This dilute beauty is a new friend of ours from down under. My very obvious hint is, there are THREE of them and you can tell that by their blog name.

11. Delilah says I can learn a lot from this Tortie! She bosses around two brothers!

12. Her name means jewel or trinket.

To enter the contest, you will need to match the Tortie to the toes and submit it to us before 9:00 PM EST tonight. All correct answers will be entered into the draw for all three of Delilah's gifts! You can submit your answers to us by clicking the 'contact me' link in our profile.

Good luck!

Mancat Monday

Like so many of you pointed out to me, one of the advantages of moving is all of the boxes...before you move and after.

Mommy has unpacked most of the boxes and even put some into recycling, but because I wasn't feeling comfortable in our new apartment at first, she let me pick out a couple that I could keep. My favorite is this DVD player box.

I've broken it in so perfectly, that it keeps my shape, even when I'm not on it. Who needs memory foam?

It's a great place to bathe and hang out with Mommy when she watches TV.

I am feeling much better now. We bought some Bach's Rescue Remedy and put it in our water. Mommy also bought a second litter box, so both Delilah and I can have our own toilets. With all this, I'm finally starting to enjoy my new apartment.

Mommy is bending over backwards to make me feel comfortable. She even makes sure I eat by bringing my food to me, wherever I am!

A Mancat could really get used to this! Too bad, it probably won't last...

Mancat Monday

Some of you may remember the computer chair box that I spent most of my time on in our old apartment.

Mommy said that I looked like a hen hatching an egg. I kept it warm and safe and look what popped out of the shell! Yay!

It is mesh, so Mommy says it will hold up to our claws better than the other computer chairs we had. I'm very proud of my creation. It's black with white stitching...like me!

Unfortunately, Deli likes it too. She should have hatched her own!

P.S. Sweet Pea is still battling against our friend Paddy in Kitty Fight Club. If you think she's cute, and you haven't voted yet, you can vote for her HERE

Tortie T(h)ursday

Sweet Pea here!

It's time for my much anticipated match in the quarter final of Kitty Fight Club and I'm getting ready to do battle against my friend, Paddy, from Cats in Trees.

I've been cute-training since my last match, and I hope I can handle this round. Samson gave me some advice because he made it to the quarter finals last year. He said that my best shot was to stay cute and strong. At first Delilah offered to 'take out' any competition I had until she learned that I'm up against her buddy Paddy, and she said, 'You're on your own, kid'. She's also teaching me to be polite and gracious, so to vote for me, please click HERE!

In other news, I have moved into Deli and Samson's old apartment with Daddy. Right now we are still unpacking, but I hope to have photos to post soon. While Daddy was moving our stuff, I stayed with Deli, Samson and their Mommy for a few days and it was fun! Delilah and I had a talk and we've come to an agreement. We're friends now! We even shared nosetaps and a snooze together!

I have an appointment to see the vet on June 1st. Deli still won't tell me what 'surprise' they have for me there, but she said she had the same thing when she was my age. Whatever it is, if Delilah had it, I want it too! I can't wait!

Tortie T(h)ursday

Sweet Pea here!

I am very happy that I won my first bout in The Kitty Fight Club! Thank you to all who voted for me and a special thank you to my cute opponent, Virgil, for such a great match! You should stop by his blog today because they're having a 'commentathon' for a really good cause!

I am almost 7 months old now and Daddy says that I'm getting to be as beautiful as Delilah. I'm almost a ladycat, so I'm learning to pose like one too!

I've learned a lot of my moves from Deli, and even though she is envious of my thumbs, I think that deep down she's kinda proud of me.

She did mention something about an important vet trip I have to make soon because I'm getting to 'that age'...and then she snickered. I don't know what she means, but it must be fun if Deli was laughing! I love surprises!

Tortie Tuesday

Most of you know that Sweet Pea is entered in the Kitty Fight Club over at Misha's this year. I am writing this post to let you know the reasons why you should NOT vote for her. I have uncovered shocking facts that will definitely sway you. Of course, the threat of censorship is always looming. Mommy is the only one in this household that knows how to click the 'Publish Post' button, so hopefully most of my words will be heard.

Here are the reasons you should not vote for Sweet Pea:

  1. Not an actual Monkey! Do you see her face in the banner? Her name in the profile? I think she should automatically be disqualified from the contest! (Mommy: She most definitely IS a Monkey, Deli. We've just been too lazy to put her picture in the banner and change the profile)
  2. She has extra toes! Surely she isn't a cat, because cats don't have thumbs! (Mommy: Yes they do! Even some of your friends have extra toes! Hey, maybe she'll even learn how to click the 'Publish Post' button with her extra digits.)

  3. Photoshop. That's right, her photos are not real. She's not that cute in person. How can anything be this cute? (Mommy: You're being silly. Of course she's that cute. I don't even know how to use Photoshop.)

  4. She has bad breath. (Mommy: Unfortunately I can't disagree with you on this one, Deli)
  5. She's stupid. (Mommy: Deli, is there something on your mind you want to discuss?)
  6. Sweet Pea is evil and plotting against Samson and I. (Mommy: No comment)

Now that you know the truth, I urge you to NOT vote for Sweet Pea by NOT clicking HERE!

Kitty Fight Club 2

Sweet Pea here!

When Samson and Delilah's Mommy told me that she entered me into a fight, I was very honored and excited. Finally I get a chance to show off some of my moves! I may still be a kitten, but I've been training with Delilah for a few months now, and I'm ready to kick some furry butt! I was a little disappointed when she said it was a 'cute kitten' fight and that I wouldn't really be rolling around on the floor wrestling a kitten, but being cute is also one of my talents (according to my Daddy), so I'm going to do my best!

The handsome Misha is hosting the second annual 'Kitty Fight Club'. Samson was in the fight last year, and he said it's just as grueling as a tumble with Delilah. That sounds like my kinda fight!

This is the photo I entered for my first round:

I'm up against the extremely cute kitten, Virgil, from The House of Cats for the first round, so I'll need all the votes I can get. Our round starts sometime today, so please go visit Misha and vote for me by clicking here!

In The Raw

When I lost my round in the Kitty Fight Club last week, Mommy said she'd get me a surprise to make me feel better. I've been anticipating all week and wondering what it might be. Maybe a cat condo? A live mousie? The possibilities were endless. Today she gets home with a bag that was far too small for a cat condo and there was definitely nothing moving in there. Delilah, of course is first to investigate, and she came back with news that it was a bag called Nature's Variety Raw Diet. She also said there was a picture of a cat, a chicken and a dog on the bag!

It was certainly not what I expected but maybe it could be yummy (I'm assuming it's chicken in that bag and not dog or cat)! Mommy's been looking into raw, ancestral, grain-free diets for us for a little while and because I need more moisture in my diet with my urinary problem, she figures the raw food would be a nice supplement to our grain-free Orijen kibble

I know Mommy has the best intentions and she really tries hard to make sure we're healthy but I didn't like it so much. I nibbled at it a bit just to make her happy but that was the best I could do. Deli didn't like it either! Poor Mommy - I didn't want to upset her! She says she's going to try again tomorrow and mix it up with some other wet food that we like. I hate to disappoint her but we'll probably just eat around it. She said she'd welcome any suggestions about getting us to eat this (don't tell her to get new cats!) as she's quite determined to incorporate this into our diets. Maybe I'm a little disappointed but if she really wants us to eat raw food, maybe she should consider my suggestion of a live mousie?

Tummies and Toes Thursday

It has officially been 4 weeks since Mommy's surgery which means there are a lot more things she is permitted to do. As of today, she is allowed to bend, drive her car, lift things up to 20 pounds and go up and down stairs. Out of all those cool things, what's the first thing this crazy Mommy of ours does? She bends and picks up Sammy and I (separately, of course) to kiss and blow air into our tummies! She's crazy for cat tummies and toes so we're posting some of her favorites for her.

Samson even did an extra-special toe-chewing video just for her! When he chews his toes, Mommy gets all mushy and says he's so cute it makes her want to cry. She loves the way his nose crinkles up. I think she was on medication too long...

Today is also the last day you can vote for Samson in the Kitty Fight Club Quarter Finals. It's a ridiculously close battle and every vote counts.

Don’t forget! Tomorrow, Friday April 24, is National Hairball Awareness Day! It's for a great cause and the prize is awesome so I'll let our bud Romeo give you the details below.

Tomorrow is National Hairball Awareness Day!

To celebrate, www.RomeotheCat.com and FURminator, Inc. (www.furminator.com) are sponsoring the “Who’s Your Favorite Furball?” contest.

The winner will receive a free FURminator deShedding Tool (www.furminator.com) and will also see their favorite, funniest, furriest furball featured on www.PeoplePets.com and popular pet blogs across the Internet.

See entry rules here

FURminator Tips on Preventing Hairballs in Cats

Fuzzballs, cat scratches and dirty litter boxes may be top complaints from cat parents, but paws down, hairballs are among the worst of the worst. With peak shedding season underway, our cats are in full swing when it comes to grooming themselves, which means an increase in hairballs (since hairballs are caused when the cat grooms itself).

Friday, April 24 is National Hairball Awareness Day, and to help both cat and parents alike, below are some tips on how to prevent hairballs in cats:

1. Regular Grooming: Hairballs occur when cats over groom. To help cats look and feel their best, it’s essential to regularly brush them. The FURminator deShedding Tool for Cats is recommended by vets and nominated by Tufts University School of Veterinarian Medicine as the number one product to reduce hairballs in cats. Using the tool on a regular basis, as well as the FURminator deShedding Shampoo for Cats, will help reduce shedding, thus reducing the amount of hair your cat ingests.
2. Home Remedies: Try adding a little butter and canned pumpkin to your cat’s meals once or twice a week. The butter may loosen the hair clod and the fiber in the pumpkin can help move it through the system.
3. Stay Hydrated: Encourage your cat to drink plenty of water by placing various bowls throughout the house. The water will help flush out the hair before it has time to clump in the stomach.
4. Consult Your Vet: If you believe you cat has chronic hairball problems, ask your veterinarian to recommend a laxative supplement to help prevent ingested hairs from forming hairballs.

Mancat Monday

I was so inspired by our friends Angel and Kirby's 'basket case' post that I thought I'd try it out myself...I'm already a big fan of the laundry hamper so this wasn't too much of a stretch.

I brought in my favorite crinkle-ball and had a go at it.

All that playing made me tired so I tried to take a nap. Of course that pesky camera came in to disturb me.

It definitely warrants another try. I'll put the basket on my 'Favorite Places to Sleep' list.

On another note, I've been humbled by Delilah's angry gaze and I have decided to scrap the idea of pursuing my dream of becoming a male cat model. It's enough that Mommy (and sometimes Delilah) appreciate my good looks. I'm also exhausted from battling it out with Tama-Chan in the Kitty Fight Club match! I still need your votes, though. That can of Whup-Ass would be great fun to bring into the basket. If you haven't voted yet, and think I'm cute, you can vote here

Thanks!

Samson
