Finally Friday

It's been one of those weird weeks here at the Monkeys'. First Mommy went away and The Ball Guy took care of us (which was great) and then he got sick and then Mommy came home and she got sick and The Ball Guy went home with his feverish self and left a very sniffly and grumpy Mommy with us!

Samson and I were doing our best to catch this Ham Flu until Mommy told us that cats can't get it. Even weirder, both Mommy and The Ball Guy don't seem to be enjoying it. Who doesn't love ham?

If things don't change around here, I think I'd like to trade in my humans for ones that actually do things instead of lying around groaning and complaining! Here's hoping that they both go back to normal for the weekend.

P.S. Our Mom is so out of it that she forgot it was National Feral Cat Day! To honor National Feral Cat Day, I had some allowance left and I made a small donation to The Beaufort Community Cat Project where Dana from The Creek Cats volunteers. We love what they do for feral kitties!

Beaufort Community Cat Project

When we started receiving our allowance, I was under the impression that $5.00 could buy me at least 20 bags of treats and some other stuff on the side! Unfortunately, that is not true, but Mommy told us that if we saved our allowance, it would grow bigger. Deli and I have ours since last week and it's still $5.00 each! Mommy said it'll grow tomorrow and we can use our allowance for tomorrow, today, so we decided to pool all of that together and now we have a total of $21.00 (Deli only spent 4 dollars the first week so she has an extra dollar)! We checked out some things online, and because I received so many toys for my birthday, we decided that we are very lucky cats so we're going to donate our money to some kitties who need it more than us.

This time we choose the Beaufort Community Cat Project (BCCP) to donate to. They do TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) which we think is the most effective way to humanely reduce the population of feral/stray cats. Dana, the Creek Cats' Mommy, volunteers for them and she really helps out so many kitties all the time! Our Mom follows them on Facebook and she gets updates about all the kitties they help. Since their inception in mid 2006, they've performed almost 230 spay/neuters and so far this year it's almost 60! They also set up feeding stations for the kitties.

Here are some pictures of the colony cats that the BCCP has helped.

Thank you for helping so many cats, Dana! We know our donation is not much, but we hope that it'll help. We hope to grow some more money in the future to help out again!

Tortie Tuesday - and the winner is...

On Monday we did the draw for my snake thing with a ball in it and, to keep it very fair, I asked Samson to draw for me. Actually, Mommy sprayed the names with catnip and Samson was first on the scene so I decided to let him do the draw

First, here is what you're winning...

Now, here's Samson drawing the names (It looks like he's reading the names but, I assure you, he can't read!).

Congratulations to Rufus from Rufus Raves!

Mommy says to send her your address by email through the 'Email' button in our profile and we'll send it out to you! I hope you enjoy it, Rufus! Remember it's vigorously used for a short time (an hour tops!).

We're so excited that Romeo helped the Beaufort Community Cat Project reach their goal last month! We saw an update on Facebook that they neutered 16 cats on the weekend!

Have a great Tortie Tuesday!

P.S. Mommy apologizes for the messy handwriting. She's left-pawed and was in a hurry.

Gift Giveaway

I received a lot of presents for my birthday and I'm very appreciative of almost all of them. I know it's the thought that counts but I don't love one of the gifts so I'd like to take that generous 'thought' Mommy had and give it to one of my friends who might appreciate it more than me!

This is my 'snub' pose.

You might remember Mommy gave me a box with something in it...

...well it turned out to be a big plastic snake with a ball in it!

I tried to play with it for a little bit but I prefer a ball toy that can be thrown down the hall (preferably by The Ball Guy) and fetched. No matter what I do, this darn ball will not leave the snake. Mommy tried to make the snake into a circle, an 'S' and then back to the snake; it's just not my cup of catmilk.

I tried to give it to my sweet brother, Samson but...well, he's pretty particular about his toys; it's gotta be a mousie with catnip or the crinkle ball that he saved from his first Mommy's home. And, lets face it, he's a little lazy. His idea of a good time is sitting on groceries so Mommy can't put them away immediately.

Anyway, all that to say I had an idea to give it away to one of my blogging friends and hopefully help out Romeo help The Beafort Community Cat Project. Romeo is having another donate-a-thon with lots of really great prizes. This is not part of the contest and you don't need to donate to win (just like in Romeo's contest) but if you're interested in my 'gently used' ball track, leave a comment that you want to be entered into the draw and we'll do a draw on May 31st. For my friends outside the US and Canada, please feel free to enter because Mommy said she'll send it to any of my friends, regardless of their location.

Please go to Romeo's page to see the cool stuff he's offering this time and if you haven't already, please donate to the Beaufort Community Cat Project through Romeo's bloggy. They need to reach their goal and there's only 9 days left this month!

Dana, the Mommy from the Creek Cats, works at BCCP and they do a really needed job. I particularly liked this blog about some of the first feral cats they TNR'd. If you read it, you can see the Mama Tortie!

Have a wonderful weekend!

P.S. Mommy convinced me to use the term 'gently used' but I'm not comfortable with it. I'm a Tortie and nothing is ever gently used with Torties. I prefer the term 'vigorously used for a short time'

BCCP Nomination

Our friends The Creek Cats need our help!

Dana, their Mommy, volunteers at a really great TNR organization Beaufort Community Cat Project (BCCP) that helps feral cats and they need nominations on Romeo's blog to become the May recipient for donations! Please help them out by simply nominating them for donations to Romeo (the more nominations, the more likely they'll be selected)! You have until 9pm tonight to nominate. It's a wonderful organization that relies solely on donations and volunteers so they could really use the help.

Thanks!
