Mancat Monday

It's Labour Day today here in Canada and Mommy has the day off work. I don't understand why it's called Labour Day when she's just gonna lie around in her pajamas not 'labouring' at all!

Well, if she's not going to be doing any work, I certainly am not going to do any either!

Time to get down to some serious snoozing.

Now that my itchies are gone, I can really relax.

I see Deli is getting into the spirit of the non-labour day too!

Happy Labour Day!

Finally Friday

Bella and I went to the vet last night and I'm very happy that it's over!

When I realized that I was also going to be examined, I got a little nervous and peed in my carrier. Our vet was very understanding and explained that that kind of accident is very embarrassing for a cat. That made me feel much more comfortable with him and the rest of my examination went off without a hitch.

He weighed me (15.4 pounds) and examined my scabs. By the location and look of my cuts, he determined that my problem is an allergy and he prescribed a course of Prednisone. I asked him if it was possible that I was allergic to Torties...he just smiled and winked. I think that means I must be! He told Mommy to watch my progress and if my scratching doesn't stop in 3 days, they will look to a different treatment. He thinks it is a seasonal allergy and if it comes back after the treatment, they'll do tests to see what I'm allergic to.

Bella was a lot more relaxed than I expected. The vet weighed her (7.3 pounds) and said she was in 'remarkable health for a cat her age, but should put on about a pound'. Bella showed off her athleticism by jumping off the high counter and running around the room! He looked at the lump on her abdomen, and said it could be an umbilical hernia and, after he aspirated it and tested the cells for bad things (tests were all good), he said that she does not require surgery. Mommy has to watch it and check for any increase in size of the lump, but other than that, she's in great health.

Here is the vet examining Bella's cells under a microscope.

When we got home, Deli was waiting to sniff us and grill us about where we were all evening. Mommy gave me my first pill and we're all feeling a little sleepy, so we're going to relax and enjoy our long weekend!

Thank you for your purrs that our vet trip go well. They seem to have worked!

Tortie T(h)ursday

Samson has been preparing me all week for a vet trip for him and I tonight. Little does he know, but I've been to many vets, and I doubt this one will be any different. At 11 years old, I've been around the block a few more times than him.

Samson is under the impression that he is going to the vet to help me feel more comfortable, when in fact, he is going to go for some tests too. He has been scratching and grooming off his beautiful coat so the humans are very concerned about him.

He also told me that the Mommy creature is planning on signing the adoption papers to take over my care. I'm pretty happy about that, but I won't start celebrating until the papers are signed and it is official. Although, I won't turn down a celebratory treat in the meantime!

While I haven't always felt this way, life as a Monkey will be a pretty wonderful thing. The food and love is plentiful, and, for the most part, I get along with Samson and Delilah.

Samson is a sweet gentlemancat with wonderful manners. Once I made it clear that he was not to approach me, he was quite content to admire me from afar.

Most times Delilah lets me do my own thing, but she is a bit of a wildcard. She has a new game that is quite disturbing and frankly, very immature. She is only 4 years old, so I'm trying to cut her some slack, but sometimes I wish I had a housemate that was more my age. Delilah's game involves maneuvering the cat cube so that one of the holes is on the bottom, then she lurks in the cube and lunges, with the cube still on her, at any passersby! She doesn't discriminate because she attacks both humans and furries.

She sticks her feet out of the hole on the bottom and runs around with the cube on her. It looks like a Flintstones car for cats! She has gotten Samson and I a few times with this trick, but the only time I enjoyed watching it was when she surprised Sweet Pea and Sweet Pea nearly jumped out of her furs! Good times...

We will update you tomorrow on how our vet trip went (and hopefully have some pictures).

Tortie Tuesday

We have just adopted Bella, but there are even more Torties in our household than I thought!

I was just having a snooze when I saw this strikingly beautiful Tortie hanging out right near me.

I don't know who she is, but by the looks of her, she is a strong one.

I hope she understands that I'm the boss here. I don't want to have to tackle her!

P.S. Our friends over at Mishkat are in need of purrs for their cousin, Blackie, who is having surgery today for his tooth. Please join us in some positive thoughts and purrs for him!

Mancat Monday

We have been absent for a few posts because Mommy says she was busy, busy. I guess I'll forgive her...as long as she doesn't make a habit out of it!

Both Bella and I have a vet appointment on Thursday night. Mommy found that the little sores on my head are also on various parts of my body and that I have been scratching and grooming excessively. She also found a little soft, movable lump on Bella's tummy flap, which she's concerned about. When she called the place that rescued Bella to see if their vet had seen that before, they told her she could bring her to their vet to be examined because she was still officially being fostered. Mommy said it was time to make it an official adoption and that she would take Bella to our vet. I guess that means we are stuck with her!

Gerdy, from Gerdy's Rescue said that because of Bella's age, they are going to waive the adoption fee and call it a 'compassionate placement'. All we have to do now is sign the papers and Bella is ours forever. We'll definitely have to use our allowance to donate to that nice rescue!

Since I'm a gallant Mancat, I'll go with Bella to make sure she's not scared and introduce her to our favorite people at The Animal Health Clinic (the girls at the reception give the BEST scritches). If they can happen to find out why I'm so itchy while I'm there, all the better.
